EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
An Emergency Service Team should be appointed at a Club.
Each person should be familiar with their role and the actions required of them in an emergency.
This team should include coaches and managers.
Role players in this team should be as follows:
HOME FIXTURES:
Communications Officer: - Responsibilities:
- Maintains an updated list of emergency (land line and mobile) telephone numbers
- The following telephone numbers should be included on an easily accessible list:
* Ambulance, Nearest Hospital and Spineline
- The list should be located at the following locations:
* All changerooms and the Clubhouse
- Ensures that access routes for emergency vehicles are clear at all times
- Communicates with parents/next-of-kin, where appropriate
* The type of information to be conveyed should be done in conjunction with appropriate medical
personnel and should include a description of the incident, the method of transport and
destination of the injured player, and the condition of the injured player
On Field Life Threatening Incidents: - Responsibilities:
- Establish extent of injury and stabilize patient
- For neck injuries contact Spineline for advise on 0800 678 678
- Contact local Ambulance service for evacuation (for patients account)
- Club Chairman to advise CEO of KZNRU and Pippa Rowe of Sharksmart
- For all Sharks contracted players contact Pippa Rowe (082 897 9509)
AWAY FIXTURES:
Off the Field Incidents: - Responsibilities:
- Accidents involving injuries to players and officials must be reported to the respective Sub - Union,
which reports the incident to the CEO of KZNRU
- Ensure that all of the above is reported to the Club Chairman
- Communicate with parents/next-of-kin, where appropriate
