Foreword<br />

The responsible and market-oriented attitude of everyone in the Technoform Group ensures the social quality of<br />

our working environment. In this guide, our previous Marketing <strong>Manual</strong> and Corporate Design <strong>Manual</strong> have been<br />

combined to create a Corporate Identity <strong>Manual</strong> in order to ensure a consistent appearance to our corporate<br />

world in terms of the texts and images we use.<br />

It is becoming increasingly important for us to combine the philosophy we pursue with a clearly defined global<br />

brand appearance in the growing international markets!<br />

The rules in this manual are intended as a framework for internal and external communication aimed<br />

at all target groups.<br />

The country- or market-oriented presentation of a Technoform company should and must be individually designed.<br />

By doing this, we convince the individual markets with our global knowledge and locally oriented activities.<br />

The framework of advertising and presentations demonstrates an international alignment and creates space for<br />

local content.<br />

These guidelines must be complied with. If individual content demands modification of the structural design,<br />

this must first be agreed with Technoform Holding. As far as applications are concerned, the Technoform Group<br />

Mediapool at www.mediapool.technoform.com contains open files as well as images and documentation.<br />

The Technoform principle: People + Ideas<br />

Technoform is primarily based on a fundamental agreement that is as simple as it is successful because the entire workforce<br />

of the Technoform Group lives by it every single day.<br />

Technoform connects people with ideas to form a global network of efficient and<br />

autonomous teams consistently striving to find the best possible solutions for their<br />

customers in the marketplace.<br />

Technoform is a provider of specialised global know-how on the solution-oriented development<br />

and manufacture of products that take account of the regional demands of customers<br />

and end users alike.<br />

1. Culture<br />

Technoform employees are people who have a keen interest in the cultures of their customers<br />

and their markets. This interest drives an intensive and indeed daily search for improvements<br />

and new ideas that meet the specific requirements of customers and markets.<br />

2. Specialist know-how and a thirst for knowledge<br />

Technoform employees are extremely well qualified to undertake their work. But they also<br />

know that knowledge has a very short half-life, and that solutions can only be developed for<br />

the tasks of tomorrow through constant, intensive continuing training and an interest in the<br />

customer’s concerns.<br />

Technoform employees are primarily interested in capitalising on the knowledge and potential<br />

of all their colleagues worldwide in the interest of their customers.<br />

4. A keen interest in the customer and his concerns<br />

Our customers are often also part of a global structure – with concerns that need to be<br />

addressed regionally. To be able to find solutions to these concerns for our customers, it is<br />

of decisive importance that we meet the relevant requirements, namely the needs of the<br />

customer and the market as well as the customer’s objectives.<br />

At Technoform we do not sell products but rather solutions perfectly aligned to our customers’<br />

objectives and structures. These solutions may be new developments created specially<br />

for the customer or existing products from Technoform’s product portfolio that either satisfy<br />

the customer’s demands or are adapted accordingly following a thorough analysis of these<br />

requirements.<br />

Technoform customers are offered a product only if it is suitable for their objectives<br />

to the best of our knowledge and on the basis of our global know-how.<br />

Quick-fix deals made exclusively in reaction to cost pressures do not suit Technoform’s way<br />

of working. Our customers’ medium- and long-term objectives should not be jeopardised<br />

by short-term savings. At Technoform, cost effectiveness never comes at the expense of<br />

usefulness or quality – although cost effectiveness is one of the key benefits we bring our<br />

customers, and one we are extremely good at providing.

Our structure is geared entirely towards our customers. Structures that are not directly required by the customer should generally be avoided.<br />

This is achieved by enabling all our employees to work autonomously to fulfil our customers’ objectives in accordance with our principles.<br />

As such we avoid bureaucracy and costs that do not serve the customer’s objectives.<br />

1. Our markets and customers<br />

Technoform’s customers are forward-looking providers of products and services. They secure<br />

their position in a highly competitive market by using suppliers that focus entirely on their<br />

goals.<br />

2. Our customer relations teams<br />

Each Technoform customer relations team sees itself as a group of specialists working on<br />

the customer’s behalf. Its foremost aim is to be of direct use to the customer. To this end, the<br />

customer relations teams demand full support from the relevant Technoform company as well<br />

as the global know-how of the entire group.<br />

3. Our companies<br />

Technoform companies are highly specialised profit centres consisting of customer relations<br />

teams that use our global structure to concentrate completely on their customers' concerns.<br />

4. Our divisions<br />

Successful Technoform companies are expanding worldwide under the expert and financial<br />

stewardship of a Technoform division. This division supports its companies worldwide within<br />

the framework of its core skills.<br />

5. Technoform<br />

The Technoform Holding company is responsible for the vision, philosophy, principles and<br />

strategic orientation of the group. Technoform Holding lays the foundations for structures and<br />

Branding Technoform: Umbrella trademark strategy<br />

Branding is the visual expression of our customer and market orientation and therefore an important element for our economic<br />

success as well as a strategic part for our growth.<br />

In principle, there are two brand strategies:<br />

1. The product brand strategy works best if the individual products have no synergies either<br />

in the target group or in terms of benefits. With this, each individual brand is presented as<br />

completely autonomous.<br />

2. The umbrella brand strategy works best if the individual products do have synergies in the<br />

target group and in terms of benefits. In this case, the same philosophy and the same<br />

quality standards apply to each product area.<br />

We have decided to go for an umbrella brand strategy. That is because the “Technoform“<br />

brand is based on a unique philosophy and way of thinking that unite us in a global network<br />

of autonomous teams, thus enabling us to develop the best solutions for our customers on<br />

a daily basis. Our principles and our work ethics are the key to the success of the individual<br />

companies. That reliability and the quality of collaboration with our customers guarantee our<br />

economic success. We want every customer who collaborates with more than one Technoform<br />

company to always experience the same level of quality of customer orientation. All<br />

this is reflected in the “Technoform” umbrella trademark. The company trademarks such as<br />

“Bautec” stand for high-quality products while their abbreviated forms such as “TB” or “<strong>TG</strong>I”<br />

also allow orientation in terms of our product designations. So the company trademarks stand<br />

for specialisations within the Technoform Group and offer solutions for special markets.<br />

The “Technoform” umbrella trademark stands for our shared approach and customer orientation.<br />

It represents the principles guiding our actions and enables us to stand out from the<br />

competition. The “Technoform” umbrella trademark stands directly for a promise of performance<br />

that will be fulfilled by every company within the group, regardless of the product or<br />

market. Statements made within the context of the umbrella trademark are binding for all the<br />

companies and are to be used for relevant marketing activities.<br />

The company trademarks such as e.g. “Bautec” stand for the specialisation in each case and<br />

for the highest level of quality in development and production. So statements made under the<br />

made under the “company trademark” form the basis for product-specific customer orientation.<br />

The image trademarks are pictograms to enable easy recognition of the Technoform Group<br />

and the individual companies. As a rule, the image trademarks are always to be used to<br />

supplement the word trademarks.

The distribution of marketing responsibilities<br />

Our global structure requires a globally uniform appearance to strengthen the “Technoform” umbrella trademark.<br />

The principle for successful branding is: "Generate trust in our products and services".<br />

Technoform has been a successful player on the market for many years. In order to be able<br />

to make our presence on these markets even more palpable in the future, we must ensure<br />

that all Technoform companies have a uniform presence on the market under the Technoform<br />

umbrella trademark.<br />

Our Corporate Design <strong>Manual</strong> provides the necessary binding visual framework for this.<br />

The marketing principles described in the manual provide the framework for the content.<br />

The individual companies are solely responsible for working the markets themselves.<br />

The guidelines of Technoform Holding and the Technoform divisions serve as pointers for the<br />

autonomous implementation thereof within the companies. The various markets require differing<br />

acquisition strategies. Trade fairs and direct marketing are suitable in some markets,<br />

in others press work or advertising in trade journals is potentially more rewarding.<br />

Marketing communication and dialogue marketing by Technoform companies<br />

We differentiate between two ways of being present on the market.<br />

The configuration and structure of these are different.<br />

1. Marketing communication<br />

Marketing communication comprises all the media that must speak for themselves.<br />

These include, for example, brochures, advertisements and web pages.<br />

Marketing communication sends a message that should be clear and as unambiguous<br />

as possible.<br />

In marketing communication, there is no point in explaining an offer in detail since this could<br />

easily lead to misunderstanding. Instead marketing communication is supposed to raise<br />

questions in a targeted way in order to prompt people to contact us. For this reason, explanations<br />

of products or offers should focus purely on the benefits to the customer. It should<br />

also be remembered that the recipients of the messages will be not only technicians but also<br />

managers who won’t necessarily have detailed specialist insight. If the target audience can<br />

recognize and be interested in the benefits, a more customer-specific technical explanation<br />

or detailed description can be provided at a subsequent meeting, over the telephone or in<br />

writing than would be possible through general marketing communication.<br />

2. Dialogue marketing<br />

Dialogue marketing comprises all the situations and media in which direct or almost direct<br />

dialogue takes place. These include, for example, mailshots, trade fairs, telemarketing,<br />

presentations, customer visits and basic discussions with the target audience.<br />

Dialogue marketing should always work directly towards a conclusion of some sort. That<br />

means that the target audience has been determined precisely and we have determined its<br />

needs and the demands of the market in advance. No matter whether it takes the form of a<br />

mailshot, a discussion at a trade fair or a presentation, the immediate interaction (the dialog)<br />

with the customer is the key to success.<br />

Marketing communication: The approach<br />

Technoform’s marketing communication must raise questions in the recipient’s mind that are worth answering.<br />

That means that we want to generate interest and ideally convince the recipient to contact us.<br />

1. Formulate the clear benefits in terms of the customer’s objectives!<br />

The customer must immediately recognize the benefits to him directly above the headline.<br />

Headlines such as, for example, "Profiles for architecture" are vague and interchangeable.<br />

A headline like "Best heat resistance for aluminum windows" helps the customer to quickly<br />

establish the context and see the benefits.<br />

2. The product area and sender<br />

The customer benefits in the headline must be directly associated with the brand of the<br />

relevant Technoform company. Customer benefits and Technoform are two important aspects<br />

that support branding.<br />

3. The text strategy<br />

First and foremost, the text and images should be factually and technically clear as well as<br />

succinct. In so doing, care must be taken to raise the issues with core messages and statements.<br />

Further more detailed information can be conveyed to the customer in the course of<br />

the dialogue or handed out in the form of leaflets and should be kept deliberately simple.<br />

4. The Technoform Group<br />

Finally we should present the Technoform Group in such a way that the customer understands<br />

that we are a global organisation with a reliable structure, a group whose particular<br />

strength lies in the regional application of global know-how.<br />

On the right, you can see an example front page of a product brochure. Point 3 is represented<br />

by the interior content while point 4 determines the layout of the back cover on which we<br />

present the group using a map of the world and brief text.<br />

Dialogue marketing: The approach<br />

At Technoform, dialogue marketing should give the customer answers to his questions that are so convincing and customer-oriented that collaboration<br />

is instantly desired. Dialogue marketing actively establishes direct contact.<br />

For this reason, we begin the dialogue by presenting our global network so that we appear as competent and strong as possible to the customer.<br />

1. The Technoform division brand and the Technoform Group<br />

The customer must immediately become aware that we are a globally operating organisation<br />

credited with great skill and a huge potential to act. Just like in any decent conversation<br />

between strangers, we begin by introducing ourselves. In so doing, we use all the means at<br />

our disposal in order to immediately and unmistakeably present ourselves in a positive light.<br />

By doing this, we set ourselves apart from purely regional providers even as we are establishing<br />

contact.<br />

If the target customer also belongs to a global structure, we can start the dialogue on an<br />

equal footing.<br />

2. Proposing solutions<br />

In dialogue marketing we should assess the customer‘s needs beforehand in order to be<br />

able to make him an offer. This offer may be a general technical innovation at a trade fair or<br />

a promise of quality. In the case of mailshots or telemarketing, the offer should be tailored<br />

specially to the target audience where possible.<br />

3. Proximity to the customer<br />

If the content of the message is interesting to the customer, we present ourselves as a local<br />

partner. This creates trust that his needs will be addressed soon, and promotes bonding<br />

based on cultural communality.

In some markets, regional Technoform Holdings are necessary in order to successively establish the<br />

companies when developing the market. In these cases, we use the group-word-image trademark.<br />

Furthermore, the group-word-image trademark is used on the homepage for www.technoform.com or<br />

in all other media that deal with more than one of the Technoform companies. The individual companyword-image<br />

trademarks are thereby not visually represented. The companies are only to be mentioned in<br />

the text. Joint displays by different companies can then in turn be combined under the group-word-image<br />

trademark.<br />

Rule: If a communication is developed by more than one company, the group-word-image trademark is to<br />

Technoform Holding only communicates within the internal Technoform system. The product of Holding<br />

trademarks of Technoform Bautec and Technoform Glass Insulation. The third division Holding comprises<br />

Technoform Kunststoffprofile and Technoform Extrusion Tooling but uses the trademark of Technoform<br />

The objective of continually reducing<br />

the energy requirements for a building<br />

is an important target and an indispensable<br />

developers provides the starting point<br />

for our work or is the actual specification<br />

sheet. Prerequisites we truly appreciate,<br />

because this is precisely what gives our<br />

co-thought processes all the conceivable<br />

room for development. Here, we always<br />

focus on the entire system, when questioning<br />

the desired effect such as the<br />

U value or the rigidity.<br />

We construct the geometry of the insulating<br />

profile, examine whether the<br />

result corresponds to the requirements<br />

and test all values even during the<br />

prototype phase. Furthermore, we also<br />

consider the composition of the aluminium<br />

zones with the objective of determining<br />

whether the connection will work, and<br />

subsequently implement it all in a targetoriented<br />

manner. The earlier we are<br />

involved in the concept phase, the easier<br />

is it to avoid potential problems, while<br />

identifying opportunities and risks at<br />

an early stage.<br />

As a result of the continual dialogue<br />

with customers and partners, we have<br />

developed comprehensive know-how<br />

over the course of many years, which<br />

Problem<br />

Wärmeverluste: Je größer die Kammern, desto größer die<br />

Konvektionswärmeverluste.<br />

Instabilität: Je besser der geforderte U-Wert, desto breiter müsste<br />

der Isoliersteg sein und desto instabiler würde das System.<br />

Lösung<br />

Die Kleinteiligkeit der Kammern vermindert die Wärmeverluste durch<br />

Konvektion. Zudem wird durch das Zusatzprofil der klassische Isoliersteg<br />

verstärkt, so dass das System die notwendige statische<br />

Unterstützung erfährt.<br />

Die Package-Lösung von Technoform: Das labyrinthförmige Zusatzprofil<br />

vermindert die Konvektion, so dass bei optimaler Systemgestaltung<br />

Uf-Werte von bis zu 1,4 W/m 2 K erreicht werden können.<br />

Solution for modern HI-Systems<br />

Problem<br />

Heat loss: the bigger the chambers, the greater the heat loss<br />

through convection.<br />

Instability: the better the required U-value, the wider the insulating<br />

strip would have to be and the more instable the system would become.<br />

Solution<br />

By dividing the chambers, the heat loss through convection is<br />

reduced. Through an additional profile the classic insulating strip<br />

is strengthened so that the system displays the necessary static<br />

support.<br />

Product<br />

The package solution by Technoform: the labyrinth-shaped additional<br />

profile reduces convection. With an optimal system design, Uf-values<br />

up to 1.4 are possible. Additionally the package solution gives the<br />

system stability.<br />
