Petroleum minister
Dharmendra Pradhan said that
no customer has to pay merchant
discount rate (MDR), on
purchase of petrleum through
credit or debit card. He also
added on the topic of the non
acceptance of the cards by
petrol pumps that all cards
shall be acceptable from
January 13.
There is still a discussion going
on between the banks and the
petrol pumps about bearing
the MDR. Due to the interference
of PMO in the matter, the
banks, petrol pumps association
and the government has
putting a lot of through in the
matter. For now, the collection
of MDR has been halted till
13th January.
Pradhan said, “The petrol
pump owners would have to
follow the government's
orders regarding the
matter. The owners and
banks should discuss and
resolve the matter so that
they along with their
customers would not have
to pay the extra charges".
The banks have notified the
dealers by sending them a
notice that every transaction
will cost 1% charge. But the
dealers are claiming to lose
their margin if they pay 1%
charge on each transaction
to the banks.

China's Film Week 2017
The annual Chinese Film Festival 2017 is dated to start this
week in the Capital of China. The film fest which is orchestrated by World
Cultural Net plans to see the screening eight movies over the course
of a week, in total. When asked to throw some light on the matter
about the fest, coordinator of the fest, Rajendra Rimal said, “We
have been organizing this film fest since 2000, with the sole motive of
improving the bond and cultural relationship between Nepal and
China. We share a lot of history with China in terms of trade and
politics but with the course of time, cultural exchanges were never
really motivated. So, the basic goal of the fest is to encourage the bilateral
cultural exchange and to let people get familiar with the Chinese society.”
The fest will see the screening of movies such as Hua Mulan, American
Dream In China, City Monkey, and The Message among others. The fest
will be commenced amidst a ceremony to be held at Russian Cultural Centre
on April 7 and after that, the movie Hua Mulan will be played on the screen.

Till January 15,Current season's yield of
sugar dropped steeply by 6 lakh tons- ISMA
Due to the lower production of sugarcane in
the country sugar production has droppedown.
In the session of 2016-17, there are only 108.
80 lakh tons of sugar produced in the
country, which is 5.92 lakhs less than the
production of the previos season. According to
Indian sugar mills association, Maharashtra
has witnessed 27% less production of sugar
this year, whereas in Uttar Pradesh, the
production of sugar has gone up by 31% this
year.

Karnataka is also one of those who have contributed
less production of sugar than it did in the previous
year. Tamil Nadu has also faced positive changes in
the terms of the production of sugar this year. Gujrat
has produced 4.70 lakh tons of sugar till January15th

lakh tons. Bihar, Uttrakhand, Punjab, and Haryana
have generated 7.42 lakh ton sugar this season.

China’s Foreign Ministry unwaveringly pushed back
Saturday against President-elect Donald Trump’s recommendation
that the “One China” policy on Taiwan is debatable,
calling it the “political establishment” of the connection
between the US and China. China sees Taiwan as a rogue
territory and, since 1979; the US has recognized Beijing’s case that
Taiwan is a piece of China, with US- China relations ruled by an
arrangement of protocols known as the “One China” approach.
The ‘One China’ guideline is the political establishment
of Sino- US relations and it is non- debatable. We recommend

sales) Mr. N. Raja, raw materials like rubber, steel, aluminum,
copper etc have witnessed a lot of price changes in

has increased resulting in the increase in input cost as well.
He said that the new rates will be implicated from the first

Johannesburg: Chinese President Xi Jinping
announced Friday that the country will pledge a new
round of funding support to Africa’s development
worth $60 billion. Jinping declared it held in a
seminar for African leaders.
