Norm Pippin Memorial Becomes
Endowment to Aid the Angel Fund
When Norman Pippin
died in 2005, he was extolled
as a WBL schools’
principal with “infectious
good humor, fairness,
[and for] his
happy whistle in
the hallways [so]
typical of his out-
look on life.”

It’s Official: All-School Reunion,
Homecoming Both on Sept. 30
In sync with 2002’s first
All-School Reunion, the
2011 version will coincide
with White Bear Lake
Area High School’s
Homecoming.
The date is Friday, Sept.
30, as the festivities return
to the White Bear
Lake Armory on Fourth
St. at Cook Ave. Some
1,100 people packed the
place 11 years ago, many
of them moving out front
to watch the Homecoming
parade pass by.
The goal this year is to
match—or surpass?—the
record set in 2002.
Again,memorabiliawill
abound, available senior
portraits of all alumni
(from the 1920s onward)
will be displayed, souvenirs
will be purchasable,
and decorations will remind
everybody of the
Blue and Gold and the
Orange and Black.
All this will begin at 1
p.m., and last beyond the
Bears’Homecomingfootball
game against the
WoodburyRoyals,scheduled
for 7 p.m. at South
Campus.
At some point during
the afternoon, a short
program will include the
recognition of a new class
of Wall of Fame alumni
(see separate story).
Most exciting of all—for
thosewhohaveorganized
the three prior All-School
Reunions (2002, 2005,

2008)—is that younger
alumni are taking charge,
led by co-chairs Deb
AchesonHoff ’71andJim
Berry ’72.
At a Feb. 7 planning
session, many alumni
assumed many tasks,
pleasing the co-chairs no
end.
The idea was broached
to continue the party on
Saturday morning—with
an alumni breakfast or
brunch, in addition to the
Alumni CarShowalready
scheduled (see story below).
No breakfast decision
was made, but the
topic is sure to surface at
the next meeting—6:30
p.m. Monday, March 14,
at the Armory. And there
is always room for more
volunteers.

Alumni Wall of Fame. Its
honorees to date number
19, representing the graduatingclassesof1927,’29,
’33 (2), ’40, ’41, ’42, ’47,
’49(2),’53,’54,’55(4),’56,
’57, and ’58.
Qualifications for consideration
include:
n Graduation from high
school in WBL 10 years
ago or more;
n Record of exemplary
leadership,service,and/or
professional achievement;
n Willingnesstoberecognized,
although deceased
alumni can also be nominated,
with the consent of
their nearest of kin.
A committee chosen by
the WBLAAA Board of
Directors will consider all
nominations received at
the WBLAEF office in the
District Center by Thursday,
