DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT ASIA PACIFIC REGION. 

HELLA Australia and Erich Jaeger Asia Pacific are pleased 

to announce they have entered in to a Distribution and 

Development Agreement for the Asia Pacific region. 

The Erich Jaeger Group are the market leaders in vehicle 

interconnect systems for towing, lighting, charging and ABS/ 

EBS, their product range covers all vehicle types including 

agricultural and military applications. Celebrating their 90th 

anniversary this year Erich Jaeger have designed and brought to 

the market many products we now take for granted such as the 

first electric indicator switch and in more recent times the 7 and 

13 pin round trailer socket. 

The Erich Jaeger range of plugs, sockets, coils and towing 

accessories will be offered by HELLA Australia through their 

extensive OE and Aftermarket networks across Australia and 

New Zealand.

2.1 ASTON MARTIN RACING SEALS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES IN BAHRAIN 

Congratulations to Aston Martin Racing drivers Nicki Thiim (DN) and Marco Sørensen (DN), who have been crowned WORLD 

CHAMPIONS after taking victory in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s season finale in Bahrain. Aston Martin Racing, 

technical partners to HELLA, equips all racing vehicles 

with HELLA headlights. 

Heading into the race, the pair led the GT Drivers title 

battle by 12 points, with the team controlling the GTE 

Pro championship with a 2-point advantage. While a 

third place finish would provide the necessary points 

to take the GT Drivers title, the Danes claimed victory 

in style by taking their second win of the season, 

securing the GTE Pro championship for Aston Martin 

Racing in the process. 

Aston Martin Racing leaves the Middle East with two 

world championships to its name, adding to its other 

recent championship victories in European Le Mans 

Series with customer team Beechdean AMR and 

British GT with TF Sport.

TIPS FROM OUR APPLICATION EXPERT 

ZEROGLARE Technology - Operating Glare 

Mobile equipment lighting in an open pit or underground mine 

operation is paramount to the safety of drivers and machine 

operators working in extreme conditions. Due to the lack of 

a standard specification for lighting systems for mine site 

traffic, operators rely on standard lighting equipment supplied 

on machines from the factory. The standard lighting fitted to 

mining equipment is generally under specified or not suited 

to the task at hand, and is generally the lowest cost option 

available, generally relying on older technology. The result is 

poor or inadequate illumination and lighting systems for mining 

operations, impacting overall safety. In recent years, the mining 

industry has progressively replaced older lighting systems with 

LED technology. The LED work lights provide longevity, better 

overall efficiency and increased light output, but only if well 

designed and constructed. LED fittings boast high output but 

very little work has been done to control the emitted light. The 

result a general perception that LED work lights cause more 

glare than older technologies. 

When insufficient or poorly directed illumination levels exist in an 

operator’s field of vision, there is an increased risk of fatigue and 

accidents. Choosing a lighting system for a mobile equipment 

fleet in the absence of a viable industry specification is a 

challenging task. The LED work light market is saturated with 

misleading information making it almost impossible for buyers 

to make an informed choice about what is best for their fleet. 

Contrary to a widely held industry belief, one of the primary 

instigators of glare discomfort and impaired safety in mine sites 

is low quality optics, coupled with the excessive lumen output 

that is so often lauded by prominent lighting manufacturers as 

a safety enhancing feature. In reality, poor lens system design 

and inability to adequately focus and direct a light source 

increases glare sensitivity, which is a context exacerbated by 

manufacturers who use of ‘off the shelf’ optics sourced from the 

residential LED down-light industry. Thus, the mining industry 

needs a reliable, replicable and robust specification to address 

the problem of mine site traffic.

10° to 120°

available light in required areas

“They are awesome, I’m absolutely sold on 

them.” Nathan “Nugget” Anderson can’t 

stop raving about the new HELLA 7" round 

LED Headlamps we asked him to test 

before the official launch at The Brisbane 

Truck Show on the 25-28 May this year. 

The owner driver for Mainfreight trucks who has been on 

the road for about 25 years is a long time HELLA fan and 

has been using the state of the art LED products most 

of his working life. Coming from a family with a long 

history in the transport sector with his parents involved in 

various transport companies, “Nugget” knows a thing or 

two about commercial transport and the daily demands 

and challenges truck drivers face when it comes to 

lighting. Especially on long haul trips daily, reliability and durability are paramount. By using 

HELLA products “Nugget” knows he can trust the superior quality and guaranteed reliability. 

After having the new 7" LED headlamps and driving lights with high and low beam, front 

position and daytime running lamp function recently fitted to his Kenworth truck, the 4 in 

1 function round LED headlights are his new favourite HELLA product. Not only does the 

practical daytime running lamp function mean an added safety feature and better visibility 

during his long working hours, “the new LED headlamps also have great vision out in front 

and most importantly excellent peripheral spread, making night driving so much easier. There 

is no comparison to the original halogen headlamps which lacked the peripheral spread and 

made driving at night a strain. The high beam wasn’t too bad before, but with these new LED 

headlamps there’s a whiter light out on the road, so it appears much brighter.” 

Nathan “Nugget” also spent a few years driving in the USA where he most likely picked up his 

preference for Kenworth trucks, explains: “The main difference between the old and new is 

when you are out on the open road and you have to dip the headlamps due to oncoming traffic, 

you no longer seem to plunge into darkness by cutting back to the dip beam. The dip beam is 

awesome, the most noticeable difference in the whole upgrade”, he adds. 

It’s fair to say that the new 7" round LED headlights have confirmed what “Nugget” knew all 

along: HELLA stands for quality you can trust and rely on, making his working life easier and 

safer. Looks like his beloved Kenworth truck is not running out of trusted HELLA LED lighting 

anytime soon.

VAWDREY AUSTRALIA SAYS CHOOSING HELLA LIGHTING 

EQUIPMENT ON ITS PORTFOLIO OF TRAILERS RANKS AS 

ONE OF ITS FINEST DECISIONS TO DATE. 

There’s always that element of risk 

when investing into a new product. 

Will it perform? Can it go the distance?

Those were just some of the questions 

Vawdrey Australia asked itself when it first

According to Paul, Hella’s reinforced 

protection on its lamps is what increases 

the product’s longevity. “Every lamp is 

fully-sealed, so no water, moisture or dust 

can get in, which can obviously damage 

the lights,” he says. “Hella also applies 

that level of protection to the cable setup. 

It’s not just a couple of wires coming out 

the back, but sheets insulating the wires 

protecting it. 

“Given the punishment some trailers have 

to endure from different road conditions 

to unpredictable weather, Hella lamps just 

seem to last the longest, perform at a high 

level and offer all kinds of flexibility. On top 

of that, Hella offers the full backup service 

and support which acts quickly to all clients 

should there be an issue.” 

Next to that impressive offering, there 

is one more feature that made all the 

difference in steering Vawdrey’s final

TWO PIECE COMPOSITE DISC 

HELLA Pagid Two piece composite disc is made up of two different 

materials. The central Disc hub is made of aluminium which is connected 

high carbon grey cast iron friction ring through rivets. 

Using Aluminium in central hub helps reducing the overall disc weight by 

15-20%., which reduces the overall unsprung mass in the brake system of 

vehicle.

at the same time, protects the environment. However, a brake pad 

is a relatively small component and, consequently, offers little 

room to achieve this technically. Nevertheless, TMD engineers 

have succeeded in reducing the weight without changing the pad 

geometry and without impairing the efficiency of the brake pads. 

Therefore, the standard pads used up to now can be replaced with 

the innovative light-weight brake pads from Textar or DON without 

difficulty. 

SAVING MADE EASY 

This innovation is based on a thinner and, thus, lighter backing 

plate for commercial vehicles, manufactured and patented in the 

“TMD Friction Lightweight Technology” program. The slimness 

of the backing plate is compensated for by an underlayer which 

has a lower specific weight than steel, while durability and loadbearing 

capacity of the plate remain the same. Wear on the brake/ 

axle system is minimised due to the reduced weight. On a 6-axle 

truck/trailer combination, up to 7.5 kg in weight can be saved. Fuel

INTRODUCING PREMIUM LINE BY BEHR HELLA SERVICE 

Thermal management expert, Behr Hella Service, is further 

increasing the transparency of its portfolio by introducing a 

new Premium Line branding from the beginning of 2017. 

More than 7,500 products currently encompass the Behr Hella 

Service range, which will be grouped under two different 

markings. The Premium Line will include around 4,500 

products produced by original equipment (OE) manufacturers, 

with the remaining 3,000 products forming the basis of Behr 

Hella Service’ standard product range. 

In many cases customers will still be able to choose between 

an OE or standard product for specific applications, with Behr 

Hella Service maintaining its strategic focus on product 

quality, price levels and service. Standard products will 

produce equal performance under normal conditions, whereas 

the OE Premium Line offers higher performance reserves to 

cope with extreme conditions and are designed to last for the 

entire life of the vehicle. 

As well as making the total offering as uncomplicated as 

possible, the new branding will be reflected in all reference 

data, such as in the electronic TecDoc CATALOGUE system, 

future printed catalogues and on product packaging. Therefore, 

customers will be able to clearly choose between Premium 

Line and standard products for each specific application, 

ensuring that they are able to fit the most suitable solution for 

the vehicle owner. 

The complete Behr Hella Service range is an impressive 

offering, which includes radiators, intercoolers, compressors, 

water pumps, Visco® fans, condensers, filter dryers, expansion 

and throttle valves, evaporators, switches, blowers, expansion 

tanks, radiator fans and even the oil required for the air 

conditioning system. The company will continue to offer its 

customers the local availability, sales support, technical 

service and training for which it is renowned.

LUDWIGSBURG, OCTOBER 11, 2016 – DURING A FESTIVE CEREMONY ON SEPTEMBER 29 AT THE “BMW WELT” 

CENTRE IN MUNICH, THE BMW GROUP PRESENTED ITS SUPPLIER INNOVATION AWARDS. IN THE CATEGORY FOR 

QUALITY, MANN+HUMMEL WAS ONE OF THREE NOMINATED COMPANIES.

With the award, the BMW group for the fourth time honours the 

excellent new products of its partners from all over the world. 

In the presence of roughly 350 guests suppliers received awards 

in six different categories. 

The award categories for innovation were digitalisation, 

emotional experience, efficient dynamics, sustainability, 

productivity and quality. The company works with 3,200 

suppliers worldwide at 4,500 locations in about 50 countries. 

In the category for quality, MANN+HUMMEL impressed with its 

‘Agile Joint’ for charge air ducts completely manufactured in 

plastic. The innovative joint solution reduces costs and weight. 

In engines with indirect charge air cooling, the innovation 

removes the need for the elastomer hose which directs the 

air from the turbocharger to the intercooler. This has to be 

manufactured in an involved process with a series of manual 

steps. Using the ‘Agile Joint’ it is now possible for the first time 

to manufacture a charge air duct in a fully automated process. 

This increases the robustness and especially the quality of the 

product. 

In the category for quality the BMW group honours innovative 

new products which contribute towards the improvement of 

development, manufacturing and production quality. 

The first place in this category was awarded to the Chinese 

MINTH group.

I have been working in

years. Started my career in 

2003 as Quality Engineer back 

in Iran where I worked for 

Peugeot partner (Iran Khodro). 

In 2007 I migrated to Australia together with my husband and 

daughter. I joined HELLA Australia as Quality Officer on contract 

basis to get ISO certification. During last decade I have held 

diverse positions in Quality and Supply chain. 

In 2012 my leadership journey began which shifted my focus 

from I to We. The question of how I can serve my team, 

business and customers became the direction of journey. 

I do believe in challenging status quo to drive better results for 

people, business and customers. 

I love to travel and try different cuisines. I have black belt in 

Karate and teaching Karate was my first job when I attended 

university. 

In my bucket list I wish to dedicate a decade of my life to charity 

work where I can see the difference made on people’s life.

portfolio of products and services across HELLA’s expanding 

markets. 

My current position as Segment Manager On-Highway includes 

managing a team of Sales Specialists, focusing on the On- 

Highway Australian Manufacturers and Road Transport Fleets. 

In addition, I proudly Account Manage customers locally in both 

Victorian and Tasmania. 

Outside of work I am an avid car enthusiast and I enjoy Golf, 

Football, Jet skiing and cruising early Holden’s.

management with a further 3 years with Ring Automotive. 

I moved to Australia just over 4 years ago to be with my 

now wife. 

I joined HELLA Australia on the 14th January 2014 where 

I now lead a great team of sales people looking after the 

IAM sales channel working closely with our Retail and 

Distribution customers. 

Outside of work I enjoy Football (or soccer as it’s known 

here), Golf, Motor sport Formula 1, going camping with my 

family and Travelling.
