DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

• Contribute as a member of the University’s leadership team<br />

assisting in the planning and integration of IT resources to enhance<br />

the educational, fiscal, and technological objectives of the University;<br />

advise the management team in the development and modeling of IT<br />

policies as well as long term strategic goals.<br />

• Provide strategic direction for all technology operations across the<br />

University, including infrastructure and architecture, applications<br />

development, re-engineering business processes, networks,<br />

outsourcing, and computer and auxiliary operations and support.<br />

• Provide guidance in the creation of security policies, contract<br />

negotiations, University policies, business continuity and legal matters<br />

as they relate to provisioning IT services; ensure that the university’s<br />

information systems comply with relevant privacy and acceptable use<br />

regulations.<br />

• Provide leadership in developing and supporting the University’s<br />

governance structure to ensure broad campus participation of faculty,<br />

students, and staff in IT planning, budgeting, and program assessment;<br />

serve on enterprise planning and policy-making committees; drive<br />

the development of technology standards, governance processes and<br />

performance metrics to ensure IT delivers value to the University.<br />

• Provide guidance in the development of policies and best practices<br />

to ensure that the academic, research, and administrative information<br />

platforms are delivered and sustained in a cost effective manner and<br />

support of the university’s mission; foster a comprehensive approach<br />

to IT security that balances the need for academic and scholarly<br />

innovation as well as advancements in business operations for the<br />

university.<br />

• Pursue and engage external technology vendors, business<br />

organizations, executives, focus groups, and researchers to initiate<br />

and obtain innovative IT solutions; develop, and maintain effective<br />

relationships that can facilitate and grow current technology as well<br />

as participate in a visionary process to map and integrate future<br />

innovative technologies.<br />

• Plan, develop, and implement the IT division budget forecast<br />

funds needed for the department’s staffing, equipment, materials,<br />

and supplies; approve department expenditures and implement<br />

budgetary adjustments as appropriate; articulate the need for critical<br />

resources enabling the IT organization to be successful.<br />

• Work collaboratively with the all University departments to<br />

improve the efficiency and effectiveness of services; partner with<br />

campus leadership to define their operational strategy and facilitate<br />

its delivery and enable cost-effective and innovative shared solutions.<br />

• Communicate and collaborate extensively with all university<br />

units/departments; students, student government and student<br />

organizations;<br />

• Keep current in new technologies and platforms; identify emerging<br />

technologies to be assimilated, integrated and introduced within<br />

the University to ensure IT capabilities respond to the needs of the<br />

University’s growth and objectives;<br />

• Create a work environment that is conducive to collaboration and<br />

teamwork; continually developing staff that can meet or exceed<br />

operational and service goals.<br />

• Respond proactively to problems and opportunities emerging<br />

from anticipated significant system and industry changes; promote<br />

goals and objectives that advance the use of innovative information<br />

technologies.<br />

• Performs related duties as assigned.
