a message from Dean Betty Anne Younker
As we embark on another season of performances here at the Don Wright Faculty of Music, I invite you to join us either on campus or at one
of the recital venues throughout London. Our season includes a diversity of musical experiences highlighting our students and faculty as well
as guest artists. Our students, who come to our campus with deep and broad talents, welcome the chance to share with you their passion of
making music. The faculty who collectively, have accomplished more than 1,400 performances on local, provincial, national and international
stages, continue to serve as role models for our students and showcase their commitment to artistic and scholarly excellence. They perform
often here in the DWFOM as soloists and in collaboration with their colleagues on faculty and in the field. Finally, guest artists continue to
grace our stages and contribute to the musical culture we expect here at the DWFoM.
Under the baton of Maestro Alain Trudel, Orchestra London Canada, Western University Symphony Orchestra, chamber music groups, and faculty
members will join together during November’s Canfest, which includes music composed by DWFoM faculty members. The performances
promise to be exhilarating and satisfying.
As a continuing commitment to outreach into the community, the Choral Celebration will be performed at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica while
the Western University Singers will be performing at Colborne St. United Church. Once again, the ‘Music and the Manor’ series will be part of
our opera experience and promises to be a rewarding dining and musical event. Other off campus performances will be advertised throughout
the year, so do check our website for the Events Schedule.
With the iconic Friday at 12:30 series, three opera productions; and performances by chamber music groups, Percussion ensemble, Early Music
Studio, Contemporary Ensemble, Choral groups, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble and our Jazz Ensemble, in addition to the various solo recitals
performed by students, the DWFoM continues to add to the cultural vibrancy of the campus and community. Do join us as we celebrate
another exciting year. Welcome to another year of musical experiences at the DWFoM; I look forward to sharing these experiences with you.
