HANSSEN HELPING QUEENSLANDER’S EUROPE MISSION<br />

Double Australian KZ2 Champion, Joey Hanssen has taken a young Queenslander - Zack Wilson -<br />

under his wing and is working with him on a European KZ2 program for this season.<br />

Wilson has been out of karting for some time having been concentrating on his studies and also fitness,<br />

which has included a heavy program of amateur competition boxing.<br />

He formerly competed in KZ2 at Australian Championship level - yet the back end of this year sees a<br />

major step up into the European Championship with a program that includes the KZ2 World Supercup<br />

and potentially the X30 World Finals.<br />

“Now I have my schooling finished, I’m really able to focus on my future goals,” Wilson told <strong>Full</strong> <strong>Throttle</strong>.<br />

“I have a manager in the UK on my side who has been a big help and if this year goes to plan, we’re<br />

looking to a move into GT cars in 2018.<br />

“Being under Joey’s wing and absorbing the knowledge he’s gained over the years internationally will<br />

benefit my progress extensively and give me the best possible chance to exceed the expectations I’ve<br />

set for myself.”<br />

The youngster admits that the challenge is ambitious in the extreme.<br />

“I’ve had some negative comments about what I’m trying to achieve, but if anything that fires me up<br />

even more as I know within myself I have the skills and mindset to succeed. KZ2 really suits my driving<br />

style, it teaches you to drive properly and of course I love having the six gears at my disposal!”<br />

Zack is aiming to be in Europe from the end of May and into the back end of season 2017.
