El Departamento de Vichada está situado en el extremo
oriental del país y de la región de la Orinoquía colombiana

La red hidrográfica del departamento de
Vichada está conformada por los grandes
ríos, quebradas, caños y algunas lagunas,
desagua en el Orinoco por intermedio de
los ríos Meta, Vichada, Guaviare y Tomo;
además de las corrientes mencionadas, se
destacan los ríos Bita, Tuparro, Uvá, Elbita,
Muco, Iteviare y Siare, y los caños
Tuparrito, Bravo y Mono. Las lagunas de
mayor importancia son las de Sesama y
Caimán.
