Tokyo is the world's most populous metropolitan area and is the center of Japanese<br />

<strong>culture</strong>, finance, and government. A bustling cosmopolitan city, Tokyo is also a major<br />

transportation hub and a world economic and industrial center. Tokyo is located on the<br />

Pacific on the eastern coast of Honshu, the largest of the four main islands comprising Japan.<br />

Tokyo is definitely one of those top places in every traveler’s to-do list. There is plenty to see,<br />

go and do, so the visitors must be prepared. There are three traveler to list in Tokyo which<br />

are Cuisine of Sushi, Japanese Fashions and Cherry Blossom Festivals.<br />

First of all traveler to do list is tasting cuisine of sushi. Cuisine is an integral part of any<br />

local <strong>culture</strong>, and no trip to Tokyo is complete without tasting the authentic, Tokyo-made<br />

Japanese Sushi. For most Japanese people, sushi does not so much associated with Tokyo<br />

but rather with Edo. When Edo became Tokyo in 1868, it not only changing social system but<br />

also other aspects of <strong>culture</strong> such as food, clothing, housing, music and fine art that went<br />

through rapid Westernization. Sushi is considered as symbol of nostalgia, representing Edo<br />

<strong>culture</strong> that has preserved from 19th century and continues to be love as today. There are<br />

5,000 sushi restaurants in Tokyo. To comprehend just how many that is, compare the figure<br />

to 500 McDonald's outlets or 260 Starbucks cafe. Conveyor belt sushi is the most popular<br />

kind of sushi shop, open to everyone and popular among tourists as you don't have to<br />

fumble around with Google Translate. It's simply a matter of keeping your eye on the price<br />

as it makes its way around the conveyor belt. Sushi with salmon, avocado and cooked fish is<br />

common, and many of these restaurants also sell other dishes like fried chicken, fries and<br />

Next, Japenese Fashion is the most popular thing to do in Tokyo. Japan passionately<br />

holds onto its past. Japanese fashions that fell out of everyday wear in the 19th century are<br />

regularly revived for holidays, ceremonies, festivals and cultural activities.Clothing in Japan<br />

evolved along a unique and fascinating course. It was influenced by factors such as battle<br />

and the weather. It was also greatly influenced by the design of Japanese homes.Traditional<br />

Japanese fashions that are still worn until today in Tokyo. Kimono was once worn on a daily<br />

basis by most Japanese people. In modern times, it's formal wear that's appropriate for a


wide range of occasions. Secondly is Hakama. A garment that's worn over kimono that's<br />

similar to wide pleated pants or a skirt depending on the style. Hakama are traditionally<br />

men's clothing. In 1603 to 1868 a craftsmen, farmers, academics and samurai all wore<br />

different styles of Hakama. In modern times, women wear Hakama too. Hakama are either<br />

worn for martial arts or as formal wear. Other than that there is Hiyoku as Japanese old<br />

fashions symbolism. Hiyoku is a kimono robe that's worn under the outer kimono robe.<br />

Historically, kimono were worn in up to 20 layers for formal occasions and up to 5 layers for<br />

warmth. Layering kimono once involved much symbolism but this is mostly a lost art. This is<br />

why, traveler must do in Tokyo because it is the most popular fashion that is hold onto its<br />

past.<br />

Lastly the Cherry Blossom Festivals. Cherry blossom is a symbol of Japan. The blooming<br />

trees mark the end of the winter and welcome spring, which is being celebrated all around<br />

the country. In Tokyo alone there is a number of parks, where the blossoming trees attract<br />

locals and guests to admire the incredible trees. Every traveler must to go there, because it<br />

is the most authentic Japenese festival around the year. There are many famous cherry<br />

blossom viewing spots in Tokyo, including Ueno Onshi Park, Asukayama Park, the Meguro<br />

River, Chidorigafuchi, and more. This year attention is being paid to the cherry blossoms<br />

along the bank of the Sumida River in Sumida City, which is the location of the Tokyo Sky<br />

Tree. A total of 100 cherry blossom trees were planted according to the order of Tokugawa<br />

Yoshimune (the eighth shogun) in the year 1717. Since then many people have planted trees<br />

in this area, and the Bokutei Cherry bloom trees have become a famous spot. Because of this<br />

around 1,000 trees can be enjoyed on both sides of the river today. The Bokutei Cherry trees,<br />

which stretch for around 1.3 kilometers from the Sakurabashi Bridge to right before the<br />

Makurabashi Bridge, are also a registered cultural property of Sumida City. This is why it is<br />

the most recommended festival to traveler in Tokyo.<br />

In the conclusion, Cuisine of Sushi, Japanese Fashion and Cherry Blossom Festival is the<br />

most recommended to do list by traveler around the world in Tokyo. This is because, Tokyo’s<br />

is the one of the most affluent city of <strong>culture</strong>. It would be incomplete if the traveler did not<br />

do those thing in Tokyo and it is worth to know Tokyo’s beautiful history.
