Thirty-five years with Cervus
This year marks a momentous
achievement for Walter Solvason: his
35th anniversary with Cervus
Equipment.
In 1981, Walter joined Cervus
Equipment John Deere’s Stettler,
Alberta dealership as an Apprentice
Mechanic. Today, Walter is a Shop
Foreman, managing a team of
mechanics at
Cervus Equipment
John Deere in
Coronation, Ab.
Over his 35 years
with the company,
Walter has watched
the evolution of
Cervus, growing
from just one dealership
in rural
Alberta to an international
network
with 73 locations.
Despite all the changes, Cervus
Equipment’s high level of care for the
customer remains the same.
“There’s one thing that stands true,”
says Walter. “It’s the small town community
feel. We care about our
customers – they come first.”
What’s kept Walter loyal over the
years is his appetite for continuous
learning and seeing the fruits of his
hard work.
“The pace of things keeps me going -
everything changes just about every
day,” he says. “I like the challenge and
satisfaction of seeing equipment up and
running when I’m done.”
Along his journey with Cervus,
Walter has helped quite a few farmers
out of tough situations: “Customers
come to me with broken equipment.
They can’t get harvesting or seeding
done. It can be a pretty stressful situation,
and I do what I can to get them
going.”
It’s no wonder
Walter has
befriended many
customers, developing
close
personal relationships
with
families in rural
Alberta, the
Perry’s, Jones’,
and Suntjens’ to
name a few.
Walter has seen
a lot of changes
over the years.
He’s watched the
John Deere
tractor advance
from 2 to 4 and
6-cylinder
machines to
today’s state-ofthe-art
equipment. “I
remember when
John Deere introduced

Walter doesn’t hold back
