Arabesque, a term coined by Turkish musicologists, signifies the mix of rhythms and melodies from Byzantine
and Arabia, and also draws ideas from Balkans and Middle East.
Arabesque is an intense way of expressing feelings. It portrays a highly overstated and agonizing depiction of
love and yearning, along with unrequited love, grief and pain.
In SS 2014 collection, that’s exactly what R+T+C aim to point out. Transcending the borders of fashion and expressing
our own mood with the combination of different fabrics, colors and prints. In each and every garment,
it’s possible to feel an influence from different cultures such as Arabia, Byzantine, Balkans and Middle East all
blended with Turkish culture.
This collection provides a slim look silhouette. Easy-fit slim trousers and shorts with generous volumes of
pleats; sculptural look slim-fit shirts and t-shirts; fitted blazers and vests with functional constructions and
hand-made fine yarn knits are the main pieces of the collection. Leather is the complementary accent statement
of the collection. Leather jackets and blazers, shoes and bags are neatly inter-mixed to express the Arabesque
soul.
An array of various kinds of fabrics are used with a huge color palette. High tech polyesters and nylons, Turkish
organic cottons and cotton-linen blends, and jerseys are used in combination with each other. Tones of red and
blue, shades of green and yellow are strongly used in addition to the natural tones of beige, gray, brown and
white. Arabesque inspired graphic elements that are characterized by extremely bright colors are distinctly infused
into the collection to give it an unmistakable old meets new quality. The collection’s desire is to develop
a way of dressing, rather than to dictate how to dress. The idea is to give a strong personality to all garments
while maintaining their continuity with one another which allows the wearer to “create your own mood” in a
fool-proof fashion.
It’s a pleasure for R+T+C to present to you the SS 2014 collection, “Arabesque,” the blend of modernity with
ethnicity, cultures and feelings.
