What better way to enjoy your garden than with family and friends.
This garden truly exemplifies outdoor living and reflects a tangible garden that is achievable and
functional in the real world. It demonstrates how the indoors can be extended outdoors with the
aim of inspiring you to think creatively about your garden as an extension of your own home.
Two separately defined areas in the garden provide multipurpose socialising spaces. Share a
warm rustic loaf with the family, and then, when the children are safely tucked up in bed, the
adults can retreat to a more intimate setting to enjoy their evenings around a warming,
ember glowing fire bowl.
The tangible nature of the garden is also reflected in the choice of planting.
Designed to be low maintenance but visually pleasing, we have selected plants
for gardens that offer part shade and full sun, including varieties that are
loved by wildlife too. The size of the patio is ergonomically designed to allow
movement around the table. This is something so simple, yet so crucial to
the functionality and enjoyment of a garden.
Quirky design tips are on display, such as the use of a mirror to bring depth
and intrigue. A well-placed mirror can make a space appear much larger
than it is, offering an illusion of there being something more beyond.
This is a particularly handy tip for use in the smaller garden.
A focal point allows somewhere for the eye to settle. The beautifully
sculpted figures nestled within the planting are a fitting focal feature
representing the sociable personality of this garden. After all, gardens
are very much about the people who use them.

planting, including varieties
of stunning purples and
brilliant whites, adding
impact and splendour.
Cirsium rivulare ‘Atropurpureum’
provides a stunning contrast to the
lofty Lupinus ‘Masterpiece’ and the
popular Allium stipitatum ‘Mount
Everest’. The verdant greens of
Fatsia japonica, Acer palmatum
dissectum and a selection
of shade loving ferns, providing the
perfect backdrop.
Lynn Hill is a Scottish based garden
designer and proud team member of a
Gold Medal winning Chelsea Flower
Show garden in 2016.
In 2017 she received 'Best of Houzz' award
for customer satisfaction. Lynn studied
garden design at SRUC Edinburgh where she
was awarded the Ian Anderson prize for
outstanding garden design student.
Lynn is a BALI Associate Designer and
Pre-Registered Member of the Society of
Garden Designers. From conception to
