Day 1 Arrive Christchurch<br />

Kia Ora. Welcome to New Zealand. A <strong>Kirra</strong> representative<br />

will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.<br />

Day 2 Christchurch, Hanmer Springs (B,D)<br />

Time to explore Christchurch with two of the most popular<br />

attractions, the Christchurch Tram and a glide along the<br />

Avon River on an Edwardian style punt. This afternoon,<br />

head inland to the naturally quaint and tranquil alpine<br />

village of Hanmer Springs, nestled into the foothills of the<br />

Southern Alps.<br />

Day 3 Picton, Wellington (B)<br />

Journey to Picton where you board the Interislander Ferry<br />

and cruise through the spectacular Queen Charlotte Sound<br />

into Cook Strait. Enjoy stunning views of New Zealand’s<br />

capital city as you arrive into Wellington Harbour.<br />

Day 4 At leisure in Wellington (B)<br />

Enjoy a brief city tour taking in all the major sights and<br />

then there is free time for exploring on your own. Situated<br />

on the Wellington waterfront, a visit to Te Papa, the<br />

Museum of New Zealand, is highly recommended. Another<br />

very popular excursion is a visit to the Weta Workshop, a<br />

world-leading design and special effects facility for major<br />

Hollywood film makers.<br />

Day 5 Martinborough Wine Village (B,D)<br />

The town of Martinborough is located at the centre of the<br />

Wairarapa wine region and many boutique vineyards are<br />

within an easy walk of the village square.<br />

Day 6 Pukaha Mount Bruce, Tongariro<br />

National Park (B,D)<br />

Enjoy a guided tour of the Pukaha Mount Bruce Wildlife<br />

Centre, a captive-breeding sanctuary for some of the<br />

country’s most threatened birds and home to the only white<br />

kiwi in captivity. Continue north to Tongariro, New Zealand’s<br />

oldest national park and a dual World Heritage area.<br />

Day 7 Taupo, Rotorua (B,D)<br />

There is time to stroll around the popular lakeside resort of<br />

Taupo before stopping to view the mighty Huka Falls & Wairakei<br />

Geothermal Project. This evening, we enjoy a tour of Te<br />

Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve and are treated to a traditional<br />

Maori hangi (feast) and cultural performance featuring Maori<br />

songs, chants and dance including the stirring haka.<br />

Day 8 Exclusive Lake Rotoiti Cruise &<br />

Redwood Treetop Walk (B)<br />

Today’s highlight is an exclusive cruise across the serene,<br />

clear waters of Lake Rotoiti. Explore native bays and coves<br />

of the lake under sail on our luxury catamaran. Later, enjoy a<br />

suspended treetop eco-walk amongst Rotorua’s gentle giants in<br />

the Redwood Forest and get a unique bird’s eye perspective of<br />

these 110 year old trees and the lush flora below.<br />

Day 9 Hobbiton, Overnight Cruise on<br />

Hauraki Gulf (B,D)<br />

Enjoy a guided tour of Hobbiton, the set used in the<br />

block-busting Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies.<br />

This afternoon we board ‘Hauraki Blue’ for a unique cruise<br />

that will immerse you into the breathtaking beauty of the<br />

Hauraki Gulf. Explore the islands of the Gulf and discover<br />

secluded beaches, paddle about in a kayak or snorkel in the<br />

clean, clear waters of the Pacific Ocean.<br />

Day 10 At leisure in Auckland (B)<br />

After breakfast, cruise back to port, taking in the sights<br />

of Auckland’s eastern beaches along the way. The rest of<br />

today is free to explore New Zealand’s largest and most<br />

vibrant city.<br />
