The European Union in Prophecy by Ellen White

The European Union in Prophecy provides insightful perspectives on the E.U. both as a political project in integration and a transformation of an ancient order. One would discern that the aligned and centralised powers, which firmly resolved on unification, conceived and instituted united kingdoms, united states and united nations, still persevere in their efforts for a more robust and resilient E.U. However, unknown to most, the territorial aggrandisement, economic and military supremacy and global dominance of the E.U. have all been foretold in prophecy, millennia before the reign of the first European monarch. Spiritual forces that engineered the rise of the European thrones, also calculated the suppression of dissidence and incited merciless carnage. Although now paraded as an industrialised paragon of progress and self-made sophistication, this book elucidates on the enigmatic and clandestine alliances, decrees and dogmas that consolidated Eurocentricity that moulded modern civilisation. Indeed, despite rooted religiopolitical tensions and divergences, a peculiar one-minded homogenisation facilitates the unification process. Keywords

<strong>The</strong> <strong>European</strong> <strong>Union</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Prophecy</strong><br />

commandments of God and the commandments of men, that those who cont<strong>in</strong>ue <strong>in</strong><br />

transgression will receive "the mark of the beast."<br />

<strong>The</strong> most fearful threaten<strong>in</strong>g ever addressed to mortals is conta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> the third<br />

angel's message. That must be a terrible s<strong>in</strong> which calls down the wrath of God<br />

unm<strong>in</strong>gled with mercy. Men are not to be left <strong>in</strong> darkness concern<strong>in</strong>g this important<br />

matter; the warn<strong>in</strong>g aga<strong>in</strong>st this s<strong>in</strong> is to be given to the world before the visitation<br />

of God's judgments, that all may know why they are to be <strong>in</strong>flicted, and have<br />

opportunity to escape them. <strong>Prophecy</strong> declares that the first angel would make his<br />

announcement to "every nation, and k<strong>in</strong>dred, and tongue, and people." <strong>The</strong> warn<strong>in</strong>g<br />

of the third angel, which forms a part of the same threefold message, is to be no less<br />

widespread. It is represented <strong>in</strong> the prophecy as be<strong>in</strong>g proclaimed with a loud voice,<br />

<strong>by</strong> an angel fly<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the midst of heaven; and it will command the attention of the<br />

world.<br />

In the issue of the contest all Christendom will be divided <strong>in</strong>to two great classes-<br />

-those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and those who<br />

worship the beast and his image and receive his mark. Although church and state will<br />

unite their power to compel "all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond"<br />

(Revelation 13:16), to receive "the mark of the beast," yet the people of God will not<br />

receive it. <strong>The</strong> prophet of Patmos beholds "them that had gotten the victory over the<br />

beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand<br />

on the sea of glass, hav<strong>in</strong>g the harps of God" and s<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g the song of Moses and the<br />

Lamb. Revelation 15:2, 3.<br />
