Bus Stop Refreshments, Saskatoon. JFM 90 is a very well presented refreshment vehicle located at
Bessborough Square (Spadina Crescent and 21st. Street East) close to the centre of Saskatoon and doing
business as ‘Saskatoon Bus Stop Refreshments’. It has been in operation since 1989. It has become a very
well established business, with the surrounding area very well landscaped. Paul Bateson was fortunate to
meet the owner at the bus on 19th. October 2007, which was the final business day for 2007. Paul reports that
in his opinion it is one of the finest conversions to a refreshment vehicle that he has seen. The 20th. season
will resume in Spring 2008 (well, they can have several feet of snow and very cold temperatures in winter!).
KLB 689, painted red and white, was in use as a static café at Spadina Street East, Saskatoon, in 7/91 but by
5/96 it was reported to be on a farm at Hanley, south of Saskatoon; at this stage it was painted red and white, it
was mobile and it was used occasionally in parades, etc. When Paul Bateson found it in 10/07, it was parked
in a storage compound of Clavet Service Quality Automotive, Highway 16, Clavet, S0K 0Y0, a small
community south-east of Saskatoon. The bus is complete but it was noticed that the roof is beginning to sag
due to the weight of snow from sitting outside during successive harsh winters.
Regina Transit, Regina. 701 was one of the development vehicles for the Thomas-Dennis SLF range.
Wascana Centre, Regina. KLB 689 and 266 SFM were owned by the Wascana Centre Authority but it is believed
Regina Transit provided the driver and carried out maintenance/servicing; both were operated concurrently for
about 10 years. KLB 689 originally operated in a red livery on Wascana Scenic tours; by 11/85 however it was
in a light blue based multi-coloured scheme. 266 SFM was originally painted white with shades of orange and
red reliefs on the lower panels middle to rear of the bus, but it was later painted white with blue & cerise bands.
-?-, Lumsden. 266 SFM is complete but seemed rather abandoned when observed on 18th October 2007; it still
retains its builder’s plate and a Crosville advertisement about tickets!
-?- (tour company), Regina. 506 OHU was hard at work on the streets of Regina in 2001, but it was reported as
being advertised for sale in 8/03.
