At the end of this term, Rathmore will say
thank you and goodbye to two long serving
members of our team. Mrs Maureen
Humphrey has been a committed member of
our teaching team for 18 years and as such
has played a huge part in the education of
hundreds of children. Her love and leadership
of art has enhanced our learning environment
and we will miss her greatly.
Mrs Margaret Gilmore has spent 22 years
caring for our children during the lunch break
as well as supporting pupils with specific
learning needs.
Both ladies have a long association with
Rathmore as they were past parents too and
so have seen our community as a place for
family and work. We wish them both a very
happy and healthy future.
We also want to thank all of our temporary
staff who will be finishing their time at
Rathmore at the end of June. Each of them
has had such a vital role to play in the
education of our pupils. Their professionalism
and care have been very much appreciated
by the whole school.

2017/2018 Enrolment
Next week, we welcome the parents of our
new Nursery and P1 pupils into the school to
begin their introduction to life at Rathmore. The
current Nursery pupils will not be in school on
09.06.17 and our current P1 pupils finish school
at 1pm on this day to facilitate these visits.
May News
Last month, we were delighted to host the
Abaana Choir. Their singing was beautiful and
their dancing was so vibrant. Not to be
outdone, our Rathmore Choir gave them an
excellent performance of their own and shared
a break time with them. Thank you to Mrs
Skelton for organising this event.
During the third week of May, we had our ‘Fit
for Life’ Week, focusing on the promotion of
healthy choices for a healthy life. This was a
tremendous week, with so many people
contributing to its success. We would like to say
a special thank you to Mrs Best for overseeing
the whole week, Mrs Edgar and our kitchen
team for organising the healthy breaks, and Mrs
Gabbey for helping to coordinate our ‘Race for
Life’. Thank you for your enthusiasm and
generosity for our week. We will inform you of
the final totals soon.
Musical Exams
Good luck to all our instrumentalists (20
children this year) in their Academy Grade
Exams this month. All of them will be
performing at our Musical Evening on the 13th
of June.
Thank You
We wish to say a big thank you for all the
support you have shown us this year. In
particular for taking the time to support our
pupils on Sports’ Day. It was fabulous to see so
many spectators.
North Down Sports
Over the next couple of weeks a number of
our boys and girls will be taking part at the
North Down Sports’ event, competing at an
inter-school level. Good luck!
School Uniform Reminder
Our PE kit for P3-P7 has black shorts now
instead of white shorts.
School Dinners
Please note that from September, school
dinners will cost £2.60. We are aiming to be
entirely cash free from September onwards,
using our ‘School Money’ online payment
option. PayPoint barcodes are available from
the school for this facility.
PTA Summer Fair
This month, our PTA will be hosting their
Summer Fair on Friday 16 June from 7.00pm.
Bags full of fun will be available on the night
including inflatables, photo booth, tattoos, nail
art & face painting, candy floss, hot dogs &
burgers and much, much more.
Tickets are £4 per child and £1 per adult.
Any support would be most welcome for our
summer fair. If you can volunteer to look after
a stall on the evening, donate anything to our
ballot prize or if you would like to have your
own stall at the fair, please contact the school
office.

P4-P6will finish at 1.55pm on 28.06.17 due
to the P7 Leavers’ Assembly.
School finishes for this year on Friday 30
June at 12.15pm
