Southern Wind 96<br />
<strong>Farr</strong> Yacht Design is delighted to present our ninth design commission from Southern<br />
Wind Shipyard. The new Southern Wind 96 is a stunning, thoroughly modern yacht<br />
designed for the sailor who expects cutting edge design and superb styling in a fast,<br />
safe, passage capable yacht equipped to contest any superyacht regatta.<br />
FYD was given a free hand to develop the naval architecture concept. With Southern<br />
Wind’s advanced construction technology and fanatical commitment to weight<br />
control, we were able to create a light, powerful masterpiece with aggressive hull<br />
styling, a highly advanced appendage package and a more than ample rig size. A<br />
lifting keel with a draft range of 5.5 to 3.4m guarantees excellent upwind performance<br />
and easy harbor access. Twin rudders were chosen to best match both the lifting keel<br />
configuration and the wide, powerful transom.<br />
The interior and deck styling are the product of Nauta Design and were developed in<br />
concert with the overall concept to be the “new wave in the future of Southern Wind.”<br />
The first yacht, “Sorceress” was completed in May <strong>2017</strong>. She will make her racing<br />
debut at the <strong>2017</strong> edition of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, and will be displayed as a<br />
world premiere at the forthcoming Monaco Yacht Show.<br />
