Kalzip Teamkal Conference
8 June 2017
Beyond
the
Brand

The 21st Annual Teamkal
Conference and Awards
Good morning and on behalf of all the team at Kalzip, I wish everyone a very warm welcome
to Carden Park and the 21st Annual Teamkal Conference and Awards.
Our theme this year is “Beyond the Brand”
Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon once quoted:
“Your Brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room”
And I can say that we are extremely fortunate to be here sharing the day with a room full of
brand advocates and supporters.
We also recognise that although the Kalzip brand is well recognised here in the UK and abroad, it
is only as strong as its values and the commitment to deliver on customer expectations.
We could not have built our brand without the drive and dedication of our customers, supply
chain partners and employees. From the very beginning it has been a shared duty to provide
the best quality and the best service, whilst investing in new technologies and methodologies
in manufacturing and construction.
Dr. Joerg Schwall,
Managing Director Kalzip
To support our existing network, we have again added several new Teamkal contractors in this
last year. I would like to welcome all our first-time guests to the conference and I am sure you
will enjoy the event and the opportunity to meet with your peers.
This stronger network will help us all take advantage of the growing market.
The wider global business experience for Kalzip has also been positive.
Our mainland Europe export business continues to grow with the latest notable project
secured being The Apple Data Centre in Denmark. In the Middle East, we continue on-site
with the ever-expanding Riyadh Metro stations and our increasing business in UAE and Qatar.
To add to the steady planned growth of our Americas business we are completing our first Kalzip
project in Brazil, the Sirius Synchrotron building, and in addition we have just secured our first
project in Panama, the Panama Metro Scheme which is planned for completion this year.
In the USA and Canada, we see a strong demand for our FC Façade system and we are now
also seeing larger Kalzip roofing projects being secured.
For our Euro-zone Countries, the local German speaking regions continue to show growth
from positive investments in commercial and industrial buildings.
In the UK & Ireland, I am pleased to say that most business indicators are still looking positive.
We are experiencing an increasing level of enquiries and qualified leads and the current
orderbook for Kalzip in the UK is at its highest since 2012.
I look forward to hearing more detail about the market forecasts when Rebecca Larkin
presents the CPA outlook later this morning.
Finally, I would like to thank you all for joining us today and also for your continued loyalty
and commitment to Kalzip.
I would also like to extend a special thank you to all of our supply chain partners for their
generosity and contributions, and the team who put the event together, as without you and
this support the conference simply would not happen.
Have a great conference!

clients that reads like a "who's who" of leading global brands, including: Old Mutual Wealth, Volkswagen, Marriott,
Scansource, Philips, Wella and Audi.
Despite being considered a leading expert in his field, he remains a big kid at heart, creating unique and entertaining
demonstrations to ensure his audiences remember what they hear and are inspired to achieve extraordinary things with
simple changes to how they think.
He may be best known for his work as a behaviour insight consultant, advising organisations and presenting to hundreds
of thousands of people each year, turning mundane business conferences into memorable events, but Jez Rose began
his career in the National Health Service. He worked as a comedy performer to help fund his studies in psychology and
behaviour before a short stint as a further education teacher, where he lectured on social applications of psychology.
Today, Jez travels extensively, presenting to and creating training programmes for organisations worldwide. Over the
past 12 years he has presented and delivered development programmes in more than 14 countries, 158 cities and to
more than 100,000 people. He writes for international media publications including CNN, Minutehack.com and The Daily
Telegraph and has made more than 100 appearances on television and radio, as a regular special guest for BBC and
LBC radio and in his own 60-minute pilot for ITV1, as well as on popular shows for Channel 4, The Discovery Channel,
QVC and BBC1's Breakfast Show.
An award-winning author of several books, including his latest, Flip The Switch, ask Jez what he believes makes
organisations succeed and he'll tell you that the most important asset of any organisation is their people and the
environment in which they work:
"We are each capable of achieving quite extraordinary things with simple changes to how we think, however, equally
simple things can prevent us from doing so.
An insight into why we behave the way we do puts you ahead."
Jez is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science; Faculty Lead for the ground-breaking
research pilot The Good Life Project; Faculty Member of the award-winning Unite University. He has been invited to
speak at the world-renowned TEDx conferences in 2014 (UK) and 2016 (USA). The Behaviour Expert is an Institute of
Leadership and Management registered centre.
popular series 'The World's Most Extraordinary Homes', earlier this year for BBC Two.
Piers has been called ‘One of the brightest architects in the profession’ and has designed a number of seminal buildings,
including the RIBA Award Winning ‘Room 13’ and the house ‘Moonshine’ which won the AJ Small Project Award. His built
work has been published extensively and internationally, and typically pushes boundaries in terms of cost, technique and
process. He is known for his resourceful ‘thinking outside of the box’ and his challenging of mainstream convention in
architecture and in education.
He has founded two architectural practices - Mitchell Taylor Workshop and Invisible Studio. He is a former Design Fellow
at the University of Cambridge, and a Studio Master at London's Architectural Association. He has also founded several
educational programs including the annual Studio in the Woods.
Piers is widely engaged in several topical architectural issues, and contributes regularly to many architectural journals
including the Architects’ Journal. He has also written for Blueprint, Building Design and the Architectural Review.
