INTRODUCTION
The teaching of English language is very important because every year there are
more English speakers here in El Salvador because this language is crossing
cultures, countries, industries and it is often used as a common tongue nowadays.
This means that acquiring this English language the students can have many new
opportunities and opened doors to them, thanks to their skills. For this reason, it was
developed the teaching practice I at Centro Escolar ‘‘Jesus Escobar de Cardenas’’
by the student Jose Wilfredo Martinez Vanegas, and also this was monitored and
evaluated by professional people from Universidad de Oriente UNIVO. Therefore,
this work will describe general information about the specific grades as the number
students that the practitioner had in charge, and the schedule when the practitioner
went to teach class. In addition, it will summarize some important experiences lived
during the teaching process because everyday students and practitioner shared
knowledge and good moments. Finally, this will show strategies learned by the
teacher to work with big groups of students.
OBJECTIVES
Overall objective:
To show the most important information about the teaching practice I developed at
Centro Escolar ‘‘Jesus Escobar de Cardenas’’, describing the specific grades in
which the classes were developed, and summarizing the experiences lived and
goals achievement gotten during this teaching process.
Specific objectives:

To describe the specific grades in which the teaching practice was developed
during the 40 hours of teaching and 10 of observation.

To summarize the most important experiences lived and goals achievement
gotten during this teaching process.
General Information.
The teaching practice was developed by the student Jose Wilfredo Martinez
Vanegas during 50 hours. These were divided into 10 of observation and 40 hours
of teaching , these hours of teaching practice were developed at Centro Escolar
‘‘Jesus Escolar de Cardenas’’. Therefore, it was divided the teaching practice into
three grades:

4 th grade
5 th grade
6 th grade
Moreover, the teacher in charge of these grades of the English subject is called
Sonia Mabel Chavez who has been working as English teacher for 2 years at Centro
Escolar ‘‘ Jesus Escobar de Cardenas’’. On the other hand, the practitioner
developed his teaching practice every Friday. So, this day the classes were divided
into three hours and the followings grades:
Schedule
Grade Day In (Time) Out (Time)
4 th grade Friday 10: 00 am 10: 45 am
5 th grade Friday 7:15 am 8:00 am
6 th grade Friday 9:05 am 9:50 am
Total
3 hrs a week
The information of the data reflected above shows that the teaching practice was
performed during every Friday and it was developed three hours of teaching a week
by the practitioner.
To continue, every grade has a number of students who were involved in the
teaching practice every Friday, so this will be described in the next data table:
Number of students per grade.
Grade
Number of students per grade
4 th grade 32 students
5 th grade 32 students
6 th grade 42 students
Therefore, the data table shows that the practitioner worked with 32 students in 4 th
grade, 32 students in 5 th and 42 students in 6 th grade. As a result, the practitioner
was able to work with 106 students during his period of teaching practice I.
My first teaching practice at school
The teaching practice is very important to help to improve the learning process of
the English language in the students, but it also help to the practitioner that can
practice and develop his/her skills to transmit knowledge in the classroom. For
example I had some wonderful experiences in my teaching practice. First of all, I
remember when I realized that I had been chosen to teach class at Centro Escolar
‘‘Jesus Escobar de Cardenas’’ I felt so happy because I wanted to work at that school
for two reasons: I knew the principal of that school because he was my teacher, and
I lived near of that school. Therefore, at the beginning of this teaching process I felt
excited to give all of me in the 4 th , 5 th and 6 th grade which were destined for my first
teaching practice.
To continue, when I arrived to the school I met many friendly people there, so I
had the chance to talk with my teacher in charge called Sonia Mabel, who is an
excellent person, and she made me feel so comfortable. I did all my observation
hours and the teacher developed a good performance during that process. When
the day arrived I had a big challenge that was to show that I could make a big
influence in the learning process in the students of that school. During the teaching
process I met good students who liked to work in every activity, they respected my
classes, opinions and my suggestions. Also, I remember that I used role plays in the
class and the students felt very motivated to make participations. Moreover, I got
along with all the people at school.
To end, my teaching practice developed at Centro Escolar ‘‘Jesus Escobar de
Cardenas let me good experiences. For example, I learned to work with big groups
of students, to developed good lesson plans that could help to improve the main
skills of the students, and also I learned to control different behaviors in the students.
In addition, I was able to know the different obstacles that every student need to
overcome, and I helped to the students face them. Finally, my first teaching practice
was helpful for me because it taught me to develop the appropriated teaching
method to make impact in the learning process of the students, and thanks to it I
could grow as a teacher and I was able to know the environment in the school
working as a teacher.
