My name is Nicole Cogordan;
I’m 21 years old, currently
studying Nutrition in Universidad
Anáhuac México Campus
Norte. I studied middle school in
Colegio Ciudad de México, and
high school in Prepa Ibero,
where I learned an excellent
level of English. My favorite
thing to do is horseback riding,
which I train everyday since I
was 5 years old, and I had won
different national and
international championships; I
hope to continue doing it for as
long as I can, because it’s
definitely my passion.
My name is Nerea Orejas and I’m 20 years old. My degree is in Finance and Public
Accounting, which I find quite interesting; I study this in the Universidad Anahuac
México Campus Norte. I graduated from high school at the Tomas Moro Lomas were
the level of English was quite excellent and I learnt there everything I know. The thing I
love the most in life is to go out with my friends and have a fun time together. I also
love makeup, so I like to spend my time helping my friends with their makeup, while I
do mine.

dominant or superior position within its
field, and is able to exercise a high
degree of control or influence over
others” (Business Dictionary).
NC: I really think that leaders are the
future of our world in general, not only
because they are people who thinks in
others and they listen to the needs of the
majority, but also because they try to
make changes so that the world gets
better.
people with time, so that they can have
their own collaboration too, and make
themselves questions of how to make
things better, that’s in my opinion, the key
of all of this, to make people certain of
the importance of their help to make this
really happen. Also one of the things I
really admire of people with leadership is
that they know that in life there are going
to be ups and downs and they have to
learn how to manage to get up and move
on.
NO: I also think that’s true; the people
who want to make a change in the world
and to be known by it, is the people who
think in the customer’s necessities and
act towards that so that then they can
communicate from the inside out. This is
how you know a leader is because he
highlights from all the others.
NC: Yes, of course. Leaders build trust in
NO: I agree with you, a leader is
someone who makes people want to
change too, not only to see others
triumphing. Everybody wants to change
something in the world but not everybody
achieve it, so with good leaders we could
start to do a change, or we can just sit
down and see others do the changes
which our world needs and do nothing
about
it

LOTTERY
Definition: A gambling game or method of
raising money, as for some public
charitable purpose, in which a large
number of tickets are sold and a drawing is
held for certain prizes. (Dictionary.com)
NC: Hey Nerea, did I tell you that my
boyfriend used to go to the casino every
single day?
NO: No way! That can’t be true! Did he win
a lot or he tends to lose everything?
NC: Well, a little of both. He told me that
like five or six months ago, he won a lot of
money in a competition of black jack. But
then, the ambition over passed him and
ended up losing it all. So he really doesn’t
like to go there anymore.
NO: I can’t imagine how frustrating it might
have been, people no longer understand
what a game really is and take it too
seriously and they end up losing their
homes. The only reason I like casinos is
because I love to play the lottery and I go
there with the only purpose to have fun and
pass some time.
NC: That’s perfect! In my opinion that’s the
whole point of going, just to have some fun
and don’t really lose the strings. But either
way I really don’t go there, for several
reasons, the most important one is that I
don’t understand how to play any of the
games there. I think someday I will.
NO: That’s probably an advantage you
have, that way you don’t spend money on
something unnecessarily. Although the
lottery is never a bad idea as a principiant
to start playing. If you want, we can go
together sometime and I’ll show you
everything I know

RULES
Definition: An accepted principle or
instruction that states the way things are
or should be done, and tells you what
you are allowed or are not allowed to do.

NO: Anahuac University’s rules are very
easy to follow, although I’ve never liked
to do what people want me to do, I just
need to follow them because I signed the
regulation. I honestly think that the day
that they prohibit smoking in the
university, that day I might not be able to
follow the rules. How about you Nicole?
Which rule do you think is the worst?
NC: Well, the rule that first come to my
mind is the one you’re mentioning right
now, I mean, did you know that in some
areas of the Medicine Faculty there’s no
way you can smoke? In some way, I can
understand the reason of it, I guess that’s
illogic that the doctors to be, smoke,
right? But I couldn’t agree less with you, I
don’t like either that someone or
something tells me what to do, but I think
we have no other choice.
NO: Thank God I don’t go on Medschool!
Well another rule I hated was that the wifi
password was only given by the teacher
every day with different numbers only for
you to work on class stuff, but I think that
was not really fair because we pay for it. I
mean, I know we shouldn’t be on
facebook or social networks all the time,
but we are already grown ups we don’t
need a nanny telling us what to do, if we
want to study we study, if not, it is a very
bad decision but is still ours to make.
NC: I really like the way you’re so sure of
what you like and dislike, honestly I didn’t
have that problem because I find that the
wifi of our school is pretty bad, so I’ve
never used it, but I understand your point
that we’re paying for it so it should be
better for us to use.

TECHNOLOGY
Definition: The branch of knowledge that
deals with the creation and use of technical
means and their interrelation with life, society,
and the environment, drawing upon such
subjects as industrial arts, engineering,
applied science, and pure science.

NC: It’s impressive how much the technology
has grown over the years, don’t you think? In
some way it’s very important that there are
changes over the years because thanks to it
we can do many things we couldn’t ever
imagine years before. For example how
people can live longer because the new
technology existing in the hospitals, how we
can cure or prevent many diseases. However
it also affects us in other ways, what’s your
opinion about it?
NO: In my opinion, technology has been a
very positive thing for all human beings, we
have a better type of life and don’t have to
worry about everything. The very best thing
about it, like you said, was all the advances in
health and medicine because thanks to that
we have a bigger life expectancy and don’t
have to go through painful diseases as we did
before. And the second best thing was totally
social networks and cell phones, we can be
all connected every second of the day with
the people that we want, from all around the
world.
NC: Yes, that was
exactly about what I
wanted to talk about,
it’s awesome we can
communicate with
people we care even
if they’re in another
part of the world, it’s
easy and fast.
However, the
technology has
ruined other kind of
stuff, and what I
mean with this is that, we no longer
communicate personally almost with anyone,
we no longer say in person anything, we
prefer to send a text and that’s it, have you
notice how people spends all the time in their
phones instead of appreciate or live a
moment with someone? In family meals,
dates, parties, many people are in their
phones 24/7, that’s the only negative thing I
see about the technology nowadays.
NO: That’s so true, it is a very bad thing
about technology these days, there’s nothing
more sad than people who can’t have a nice
time together with face to face type of
relationship because they spend more time
on their phones than with the person standing
right in front of them. And also we live on a
world where the number of likes is more
important than anything else, and that is
really sad and disappointing.

SLEEP
Definition: To take the rest afforded by a
suspension of voluntary bodily functions
and the natural suspension, complete or
partial, of consciousness; cease being
awake. (Dictionary.com)
NC: Sleep, the best thing that could ever
happened to us, and also one of the most
important, if I could I’d sleep all day.
Normally I have very good sleeping habits,
it’s really rare when I can’t sleep, and if it
does happen is because I have so much
stress going on, but somehow I ended up
falling asleep and wake up feeling so much
better.
NO: I honestly envy you, my sleeping is the
worst. I can’t sleep until is 12:00am or 1:00
am, and I always have you wake up at
6:00am to go to school, so I don’t really do
the 8 hours sleep a day almost never. The
thing I do love to do is taking long naps,
because when I wake up I feel like I’m
another person. One of my favorite hobbies
is actually sleeping, it can help you with
everything, but the number one thing that I
love is that you no longer have to worry
about your problems in that exact moment
and it relieves the
stress you have
accumulated.
NC: Really? I have
no idea you had
those problems at
sleeping time,
have you tried
something to
sleep earlier? Maybe is because your long
naps won’t let you sleep until 1 am, but I
couldn’t tell you to stop napping because
they’re the best, but the thing that happens
to me, is that when I planned taking a
power nap of like 45 minutes maximum, I
ended up sleeping like two hours or maybe
more, so I’ve lost all my day just sleeping,
and I feel like the worst person for not
taking advantage of my day.
NO: The same happens to me when I go
and take a nap, and I totally agree that we
don’t take advantage of our day because
we spend it sleeping, but sometimes is
really more necessary than nothing. And
about my night sleeping, I have tried
everything and I just can’t get to go to bed
earlier it’s so frustrating.

SENSE OF HUMOR
Definition: Used to accuse others of a
lack thereof when the person fails to
laugh at someone else's expense. Or
when the person fails to laugh with those
who are laughing at him. (Urban
dictionary)
NO: Well the sense of humor in a person
is literally one of the most important
qualities they must have so that you
enjoy their company, otherwise you
would not really want to hang out with
them another time. I consider myself a
girl with a very good sense of humor, and
I’m actually always happy and laughing
about something thanks to it. I really
appreciate people who know how to have
a great time and those are the people I
keep close to me forever, and leave the
others away from me. What do you think
Nicole?
NC: I agree with you, it’s boring when
you’re around someone with no sense of
humor at all, also I’m always laughing
and try to make a good time in every
situation, I think that’s why we get along
so well, we’re almost never in bad mood
and we enjoy people's company when
they know when to laugh and always see
the bright side. In the way I see it, it’s
always fun to laugh, be active and happy.
NO: Totally agree with the active part, if
you laugh you workout those abs, just
joking. We get along so well because we
spend more time laughing that in any
other mood and because we’re funny and
so easy going with everyone, also we’re
open-minded and with a great sense of
humor.
NC: Yes, I love we can have so much fun
even though we’re doing nothing, and I
know that when we’re around people
that’s being negative or sad all the time
we always get away from them, because
that isn’t the way we are and we prefer to
be with happy and fun people.

TELEVISION
Definition: The transmission of
programming, in the form of still or moving
images, via radio waves, cable wires,
satellite, or wireless network to a receiver
or other screen. (Dictionary.com)
NO: I personally can say I don’t watch T.V.
since I was 13 years old, which was weird
at that age because Netflix and that new
stuff didn’t really existed, so watching T.V.
was the thing everyone used to do when
they had free time. But unfortunately T.V.
has been something that is a little bit on the
past because of other new technologies
that have been appearing these days.
Since Netflix started I consider myself the
most happy person in the world because I
love to see movies without ads in between
them and I can watch them everywhere I
go because it is an app you can carry on
on your cell phone and put it wherever you
go.
NC: Actually I’m also like that, it’s been an
eternity since I saw something on the T.V.,
I’m more the type of person to see videos
on YouTube or Netflix like you, I agree
that’s very practical and you can stop the
show or movie whenever you want instead
of being 2 hours straight sitting watching
nonstop something, I mean the cartoons
that existed before where the best thing
ever, but now in my opinion there’s nothing
interesting to see.
NO: Yes totally, T.V. now a days is no
longer worth it, it so boring and so bad like I
wouldn’t understand a person who still
watches it. Specially mexican novelas are
pretty bad not only because they really
don’t have a nice performance, but
because of the message they send, of a
typical life of a mexican or something
related to mexicans.
NC: Oh my god, yes. In my opinion those
novelas are the worst thing I’ve ever seen,
they’re very dramatic and exagerated, it’s
impressive how many
mexicans can be so
obsessed about them and
wait for the new chapter to
come out. Well I think everyone
has different tastes and we have
to respect
that.

TIME
Definition: The system of those sequential
relations that any event has to any other,
as past, present, or future; indefinite and
continuous duration regarded as that in
which events succeed one another.the part
of existence that is measured in minutes,
days, years. (Dictionary.com)
NC: What would I do if I could turn back in
time, interesting question and difficult to
think about it, honestly four years ago I
would love to change things I did or didn’t
do, but now, I realize that I wouldn’t change
a thing, you know why? Because the
mistakes and everything I did in the past,
made me who I am today. If all of what
happened changes in some way or
another, I would be a totally different
person, I wouldn’t have the lessons
learned, because we know that when we
messed up something, we learn so we no
longer make the same mistakes.
NO: Well I can’t really agree with you there,
I think is such a cliche to think that you
wouldn’t change a thing because you
wouldn’t be the same person you are today
and that things, but if I ever had the chance
to change somethings in my life I would
never have second thoughts and I would
do it, because there are so many things I
could have done
different and
regret not doing
the right thing.
NC: I know it
might sounds a little cliche, but either way I
like the decisions I’ve made, sometimes
I’ve messed up and in a huge way and felt
terrible about it, but I insist, if I hadn’t make
those kind of things, I wouldn’t be able to
have those life lessons that helped me to
be or to choose the decisions I make today.
But somehow I agree with you, sometimes
is worst to stay with the “what if”, it’s always
better to do things than regret not doing
them, and now I know that because I also
stopped doing things because of fear or by
some other reason and ended no knowing
what would’ve happened if I had really
done it.
NO: Not everything is a life lesson, there
are just things that happen to you and you
can’t do nothing about it but live with it
wishing you would have never live it, well
that is in my opinion, I know there won’t be
too many people thinking like me but that
won’t make me change my point of view.
Fear is humans worst enemy, we should
take chances and live a life away from it.
