It’s intuitive that to meet customer demand and operate<br />

efficiently a commercial laundries production and<br />

engineering teams need to work together to ensure<br />

equipment availability, achieving production rates and<br />

organizing smooth process flow from the soil dock to<br />

the shipping dock. However, what has surprised some<br />

SpindlePRO customers is the far-reaching impact of high<br />

frequency breakdowns or nuisance issues.<br />

A large commercial laundry with 40 pieces of equipment<br />

and 200 employees used SpindlePRO effectively to<br />

understand:<br />

• Where engineers were spending their time.<br />

• What equipment was creating the largest bottlenecks<br />

and the underlying downtime reasons.<br />

• The optimal preventative maintenance schedules to<br />

increase equipment uptime.<br />

• Prioritizing engineering activity to minimize impact on<br />

the production activities.<br />

In reviewing the SpindlePRO Overall Equipment<br />

Effectiveness (OEE) dashboard, the customer discovered<br />

a chronic issue with a bath blanket folder. The 8% OEE<br />

meant that Blanket Folder #2 was only processing<br />

8% of the pieces it should be processing during its<br />

scheduled hours of operation. The primary issue was<br />

with Availability, showing it was only in use for 13% of<br />

its scheduled time with 31 hours lost to Maintenance<br />

Downtime and 135 hours of No Demand.<br />
