Community choral works<br />

Alexander L’Estrange is perhaps best known for his hit community choral works listed below. These<br />

pieces are designed to bring together singers of all ages and continue to delight audiences with<br />

Wassail! Carols of Comfort and Joy is a sequence of 12 uplifting<br />

folk-inspired Christmas songs, exploring both sacred and secular<br />

aspects of the festive season. Including such favourites as The Sussex<br />

Carol, Gaudete and The holly and the ivy, Wassail! continues the highly<br />

popular series by Alexander L’Estrange of 40-minute choral works<br />

for SATB, unison children’s choir and jazz quintet. This vocal score is<br />

Song Cycle: vive la vélorution! was commissioned by the Yorkbased<br />

Chapter House Choir to mark the grand départ of the Tour de<br />

France 2014. Composed for massed SATB choirs and jazz quintet, the<br />

45-minute work comprises ten songs (including eight originals) on the<br />

subject of cycling and the great outdoors.<br />

Zadok Rules - Hallelujah! is a witty and whistle-stop tribute to kings<br />

and queens, royal music through the ages and the works of G. F. Handel.<br />

This entertaining community choral piece was launched in Arundel<br />

Cathedral in 2013, marking the 60th Anniversary of the Coronation of<br />

Queen Elizabeth II, and is an 8-minute celebration of our rich<br />
