Introduction
Teaching a class to new students is always challenging because new teachers do
not know the way these students learn better, so the first day is the first step to all
the new and challenging adventures in teaching a foreign language to students that
are not very used to innovatived methodologies and that probably are afraid to be
exposed to unusual ways of learning.
In this document there is a compilation of some of the experiences of the teaching
practices in the public system of education. Here can be found all the details of
place, grade, and people involved during the time I worked on accomplishing the
goals of the teaching practices.

Description of the teaching practices
When I knew I was selected to go to Centro Escolar Dolores C. Retes I was doubting
about it because of the time I would have to spend moving from my workplace to the
school since the location is not too near my place of work, but I organized my time
and I could accomplish it. The first day of class I was really nervous because I did
not know the students and I was not sure what to expect from them. In that same
day, I could notice the way they like to work on the subject and I planned every class
trying to address their learning preference.
During the time of my teaching practices I noticed, that students do not like a full
English class and sometimes not switching to Spanish made things harder because
they did not understand much of what I said and they hardly completed tasks
sometimes but with the time this situation improved. We had fun with many of the
activities in English, we laughed, we played, and created a friendship link and that is
awesome. There were some bad days when I had to scold them or punish them with
a lot of homework because of their behavior, however, we spent a good time.
The teacher was very nice and accessible, he respected my classes and all my
authority in the classroom that was pretty good, he was all the time supporting me. I
learned from him.
Finally, this was a really nice experience, I learned that teaching to students in the
public schools is even more challenging than in private schools, also, I had to be
very creative for them to learn in an interesting and funny way because of the lack of
technological resources and sometimes it was difficult to bring worksheets to all of
them to make them work since they do not have textbooks. Overall, I am glad I have
a new story to tell about my experience in the public system of education.
