Arbortrim is a nationally registered training organisation,
delivering accredited arboriculture courses in Melbourne and
across the nation. We are able to train and assess competency
at our training centre in Melbourne or at your workplace
anywhere in Australia.
Our team of skilled and passionate arboriculture training
facilitators are experts in their field and provide more practical
experience in real life environments. Whether it be tree

Chainsaw Level 1
AHCARB205A – Operate and maintain chainsaws & FPICOT2239A – Trim and cut felled trees
Cost: $400
This course is suitable for both experienced and non-experienced chainsaw operators. It has been designed to develop or increase
skills in operating chainsaws safely and efficiently in a range of common work situations including when trimming and cutting felled
trees.
This course includes:
• Chainsaw Safety – including workplace health and safety, hazard and risk management and PPE selection and use.
• Chainsaw Preparation and Maintenance – including cleaning, maintaining and servicing chainsaws as well as chain
tensioning and chain sharpening.
• Chainsaw Operations – including start-up and shut-down procedures, saw selection, cutting methods and general
chainsaw operation.

Chainsaw Level 2
AHCARB202A – Fell small trees
Cost: $600
This course covers the process of small tree felling and defines the standard required to: prepare and properly maintain equipment;
determine the tree felling conditions, direction of fall, safe fall zone, exclusion zone and escape route; use safe tree felling
techniques; use safe tree removal techniques.

Chainsaw Level 3
AHCARB304A – Fell trees with advanced techniques
Cost: $ASK
This course covers the process of felling trees with advanced techniques and defines the standard required to: conduct a site and
tree hazard identification and risk control assessment; prepare materials and equipment to specifications; set up safe fall and
exclusion zones; use low risk dismantling procedures to fell a tree; fell wind thrown and suspended trees; use documented low risk
work procedures and record worksite activities according to documented guidelines.

Wood Chipper
FPIHAR2206B – Operate a mobile chipper/mulcher

The course involves operating a mobile chipper/mulcher in a forest and forest products setting. The skills and knowledge required

EWP Licence^

TLILIC2005A – Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more)
This course requires the operator to plan the work, conduct routine checks, set up elevating work platform, operate elevating work

EWP Escape & Rescue
UETTDRRF08B - Perform EWP controlled descent escape & UETTDRRF03B - Perform EWP rescue

This course covers the performance of Elevating Work Platform (EWP) controlled descent escape procedures in the work place.
It specifies the mandatory requirements for self rescue from a raised EWP and how they apply in the context of transmission,
distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for, health, safety and risk management processes at all operative
levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Safe Climbing & Aerial Rescue

AHCARB204A – Undertake standard climbing techniques and AHCARB306A – Undertake aerial rescue
This course covers the process of climbing small trees with ropes and harness for the purpose of pruning and defines the standard
required to: carry out pre-operational and safety checks; identify and report site and tree hazards and implement risk controls;
select, prepare and inspect ropes, harnesses and other equipment associated with climbing trees; safely climb/ascend and descend
a tree with rope and harness; climb using documented low risk work methods; inspect for faults and store ropes, harnesses and
other climbing and safety equipment and record and replace if worn or faulty.

This course involves the skills and knowledge required to shift loads using manual handling methods, including assessing the risks

First Aid - CPR
HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian
Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This course is developed for existing workers in the industry who may require CPR training
as recommended by the ARC. If you are completing this course, please download the student agreement.

This course covers compliance with working safely up to the defined “safe approach distance” near energised electrical apparatus
(inc. electrical powerlines) for non-electrical workers. It includes work functions that may be performed, such as vegetation control,
scaffolding, rigging, painting, and/or any other activity that requires working safely and complying with requirements and/or
established procedures near live electrical apparatus by a non-electrical worker.

covers the process of aerial pruning of ornamental trees and shrubs and defines the standard required to: carry out pre-operational
