<strong>Exeter</strong> <strong>Cathedral</strong>’s boy and girl Choristers<br />

are joined by the adult Lay Vicars and<br />

Choral Scholars for a concert of 20th<br />

century choral works <strong>to</strong> round off the<br />

choir’s academic year. Directed by<br />

Timothy Noon, the programme also calls<br />

for harp and percussion in addition <strong>to</strong> the<br />

<strong>Cathedral</strong>’s his<strong>to</strong>ric pipe organ.<br />

Orchestral Eucharist and Farewell <strong>to</strong><br />

Dean Jonathan Draper<br />

The <strong>Cathedral</strong> Choir and Orchestra give a<br />

liturgical performance of Mozart’s Missa<br />

Brevis in F (K.192) on the final Sunday of<br />

the choir’s academic year. We also say<br />

farewell <strong>to</strong> Dean Jonathan ahead of his<br />

retirement at the end of August <strong>2017</strong>.<br />

Written in about 970AD, the <strong>Exeter</strong> Book<br />

is the oldest of only four surviving books<br />

of Anglo-Saxon poetry anywhere in the<br />

world. Much admired for its beautiful<br />

writing and the quality of its verse, this<br />

unique book of poetry has been at <strong>Exeter</strong><br />

<strong>Cathedral</strong> since Leofric, the first Bishop<br />

of <strong>Exeter</strong>, gave it <strong>to</strong> his church in around<br />

1072.<br />

Path of Miracles by Joby Talbot was<br />

the first major work commissioned by<br />

the award-winning professional vocal<br />

ensemble, Tenebrae, in 2005 and having<br />

received high acclaim (“an evocative<br />

odyssey” - The Times) returns this year<br />

for an extensive UK <strong>to</strong>ur. To accompany<br />

its revival, Tenebrae has commissioned a<br />

unique new choral work by Owain Park,<br />

Footsteps, which allows Tenebrae <strong>to</strong><br />

perform alongside ‘Antiphon’ and marks<br />

Tenebrae’s fifteenth-anniversary season.<br />
