Quetzalcoatl is Born
by Olivia Swarthout, 12d
There are crows in all the cherry trees and
no fruit on the
branches I am
ready I am
ready I
will have to take my chances I am
maybe not myself,
you see, but
then - guess I don’t have to be -
why should I have to spring forth - like
Athena, fully formed?
I will claw myself out - still
red-skinned,
still red-eyed but ready
