The Osvita Foundation<br />
The Osvita Foundation was founded in 1982 to provide a permanent financial base for<br />
the Manitoba Parents for Ukrainian Education (MPUE). It was established because it<br />
was believed that for the English Ukrainian Bilingual Program to continue as a viable,<br />
long ng term educational alternative, a non non-governmental governmental source of funding was needed.<br />
Today the Osvita Foundation continues in its ongoing mission to support the Manitoba<br />
Parents for Ukrainian Education so that the Ukrainian culture and language can be<br />
preserved ved and promoted to both current and future generations of children.<br />

English Ukrainian Bilingual Program (EUBP) in Manitoba<br />
Since 1979, the English Ukrainian Bilingual Program (EUBP) has provided Manitoba<br />
students with the highest quality of education made up of the regular curriculum and<br />
one that is enriched iin<br />
n reading, writing, speaking, and <strong>list</strong>ening to the Ukrainian<br />
language.<br />
The English Ukrainian Bilingual Program, supported by MPUE, enables our children to<br />
gain a valuable understanding and appreciation of community, culture, heritage and the<br />
arts. The prog program ram encourages the development of well rounded individuals who value<br />
each other and welcome and celebrate differences.<br />
Starting in Kindergarten and/or Grade One, students receive as much as 50% of their<br />
school day in Ukrainian, including Ukrainian Language Arts, Social Studies, Art, Choir,<br />
Health, and Ukrainian Dance. Basic French is also part of the programming. In<br />
addition, our students have the opportunity to participate in many cultural fieldtrips and<br />
special events provided throughout the year for each school individually and<br />
collaboratively. It brings students together from EUBP schools all across Manitoba.<br />
Parents and families are encouraged to become involved in the program so they can<br />
share in the wonderful experience and sense of community this program has to offer. It<br />
is important to note that parents who do not speak Ukrainian have found their children<br />
enjoy success in the program. There is even the opportunity for children and their<br />
parents to learn together!<br />
With an enrollment of over 8800<br />
students dents (Kindergarten through to Grade 9) the English<br />
Ukrainian Bilingual Program is available in Winnipeg, Oakbank, East Selkirk and<br />
Dauphin.<br />
