WRITE-UP FOR SCHOLAR GRADUATES OF PLM
A brighter tomorrow for 2017 PLM Manila Mt. Lebanon Scholars
There will always be people who want to help and sometimes all we need is a chance to pay kindness
forward. That was the goal behind Manila-Mt. Lebanon Lodge No.1’s Scholarship Program.
With the support of benefactors, our organization had managed to put through 9 outstanding and truly
hardworking students through college at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. It was an
accomplishment shared not just by the organization and its supporters but most of all cheered on by the
graduates and their families. We couldn’t be prouder of these young people’s determination to win in
life.
For 4-5 years, the struggle had been real to keep grades up and our graduates are only too happy to
share their journey with us in hopes that this would pave the way for the next generation of scholars
under the same program.
School Leader Josue Antonio, proudly recalls the 5 values he upheld to get through college:
“Dedikasyon, Sakripisyo, Insipirasyon, Pagsisikap, at Tiwala ang kailangan ng isang tao upang makamtan
ang isang pribelehiyo na nais nyang makamtam. Ang limang salita na ito ang aking naging puhunan
para marating ang aking mga pangarap.”
Future Psychologist Lorramae Agati says that she wanted to be worthy of the support and smiles of
the organization’s workers:
“To be completely honest Sir Howell, together with his lovely secretary Ma'am Liezel, have been my
inspirations while going through my college years.”
Mascom Grad Reverie Espino said her scholarship inspired her to want to help other children work for
their dream:
“Pursuing my dream to become a Professional Communicator is not a dream anymore! Because I already
have my degree with the help of the institution. It is truly a privilege to graduate in Pamantasan ng
Lungsod ng Maynila, but it is undeniably an honor too to be part of the Manila-Mt.Lebanon Lodge No.1
as a scholar. I am grateful to be helped by this institution because there are still many youth who are
dreaming to study and finish school but unfortunately they were not able to do it because of poverty. But
I was blessed enough to make it with you.”
A Manila Mt. Lebanon scholar since Freshman Year, Rose Avino is grateful to have been with the
organization since day one:
As I completed my education at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, I appreciated so much that you
have chosen this university to pick the less privileged but deserving students to whom you will share your

lessings. I hope that you will continue helping another batch of PLMayers and I will be doing the same
as I help my vulnerable clients in my job as a social worker. I will carry the pride of being a mason scholar
as I step up to another level.
Although we are undoubtedly proud of all our graduates, one such student, also recognized by Radio
Veritas, had blown us all away with his effort to pursue and finish college despite his physical
disabilities, Here’s what Christina Orina had to say:
“Kayo po ang naging lakas ko upang makapagpatuloy sa pag aaral sa kabila ng aking kapansanan. Hindi
lamang iyon, nagkaroon ako ng mga kaibigan na naging lakas ko rin upang mapagpatuloy sa hamon.
Tunay nga hindi lamang pang pinansyal na suporta ang binigay sakin kundi kung paano magkaroon ng
isang pamilya.”
