Staff Selection and Profiling (SAMAE)
ISASA Security Training provides comprehensive CCTV operator profiling – SAMAE (Surveillance
Assessment and Monitoring Exercise) whereby the candidates undergo vigorous dynamic attention and
evaluation assessment to ensure that the right candidates are selected for CCTV control room operations;
the assessment, in conjunction with the interview criteria provides a sound basis from which
potential candidates.
The SAMAE testing is critical to the evaluation, assessment and skills development process of the
candidates.
The SAMAE program:
The Surveillance and Monitoring Exercise (SAMAE) evaluates the human performance requirements for
operator surveillance and particularly CCTV.
Used for selection, placement, and training diagnosis:
Allows for the identification of operators who can stay constantly vigilant;
Identifies controllers who can process and analyze visual information on a sustained basis;
Identifies controllers who can rapidly detect, identify and react to incidents and anomalies.
CCTV clients in the fields of diamond handling, transport, ports, casinos, and town centres are using
SAMAE to assess and select their CCTV staff; this as SAMAE evaluates the competencies that have been
identified as underlying effective control room operator surveillance.

For ISASA Security Training to provide optimized effective training in line with the course objectives, it is
expected that prior to any training-taking place a base line control room evaluation/needs analysis
evaluation is conducted in order to evaluate and assess:
‣ Current operational policies and procedures;
‣ Skills level of the candidates;
‣ Determine the client’s monitoring requirements;
‣ Address any specific requirements/operating procedures that management may wish to address in
the training.
‣ Site-specific training enables the operators to operate within their own environment effectively.
