Football
Sharks release 2017 season schedule
Staff Report
The Malibu High School
football team has released
its schedule for the 2017
season.
Malibu is looking to rebound
from a rocky 2016
campaign in which it went
2-10 overall and 1-2 in
Frontier League play. The
Sharks will have five home
games this season, including
the season opener
against the Aztecs of Mark
Keppel High School at 4
p.m. Friday, Aug. 25.
Malibu will then kick
off a two-game road trip
in Week 2, starting with a
6:30 p.m. game at Windward
on Sept. 1. The
Sharks opened the 2016
season against Windward,
losing narrowly 17-14, despite
holding the Wildcats
scoreless the entire second
half.
Malibu will follow it up
with a 7:30 p.m. contest at
Beverly Hills on Sept. 8.
The Normans were one of
only two teams the Sharks
were victorious over last
year; they beat Beverly
Hills 41-8 in Week 3.
The Sharks will then return
home to host Big Bear
at 6 p.m. Sept. 15. They
remain home for a 6 p.m.
game against McAuliffe
on Sept. 22 before hitting
the road again to face the
Santa Monica Mariners at
7 p.m. on Sept. 29. Malibu
closes out the preseason
with a 6 p.m. game on
Oct. 6 when it hosts Riverside
Prep.
The Sharks will have a
week off before starting
league play on the road at
7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at Carpinteria.
They will play
their remaining two games
at home, starting with Santa
Clara at 6 p.m. Oct. 27.
They beat the Saints 34-14
last season in Oxnard.
Malibu will square off
with Fillmore at 6 p.m.
Nov. 3 in the regular season
finale.
