WHY EUREKA?
Hello readers,
Let's begin with the story: the local tyrant contracts the ancient Greek polymath Archimedes to
detect fraud in the manufacture of a golden crown. Said tyrant, name of Hiero, suspects his
goldsmith of leaving out some measure of gold and replacing it with silver in a wreath
dedicated to the gods. Archimedes accepts the challenge and, during a subsequent trip to the
public baths, realizes that the more his body sinks into the water, the more water is displaced--
making the displaced water an exact measure of his volume. Because gold weighs more than
silver, he reasons that a crown mixed with silver would have to be bulkier to reach the same
weight as one composed only of gold; therefore it would displace more water than its pure gold
counterpart. Realizing he has hit upon a solution, the young Greek math whiz leaps out of the
bath and rushes home naked crying "Eureka! Eureka!" Or, translated: "I've found it! I've found
it!"
With context to the above story, the 1 st edition of our magazine has been named Eureka, to
let the readers know that in searching for our creation, all of us( contributors of eureka) have
(in some way or the other) loosen ourselves and found out the creation from each one of us the
cluster of which is this magazine in your hands. In developing this magazine, we have found
ourselves and our expressions in one way or the other. This magazine, more than just being a
piece of literature that you have in your hand to go through, is a collection of infinite emotions
dared to get compiled in some countable number of pages. Eureka is not just a magazine but
millions of changes this institution have witnessed through the decade (2k07-2k17). This is our
expression of what we were and to what we are now and to what we are becoming as a
groomed version of our own self, we know that we have found ourselves, EUREKA!
This is to the new discovery that we have achieved, and we hope you enjoy reading EUREKA!!
Happy reading

STUDENT CHAPTER (Mechanical Engineering) INSTITUTION OF
ENGINEERS (INDIA)
The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), was established in 1920 and was sanctioned the Royal
Charter in 1935, laying down the principal role of the to be of a learned society promoting the
advancement of the science and practice in different fields of engineering. The Royal Charter
reflects the spirit in which engineering disciplines are to be pursued.
IEI Vision is to enable practice of ethical ethos and pursuits of professional excellence for
engineering fraternity to serve the humanity through inclusive growth.
Student Chapter of Institution of Engineers, India (IEI) Kolkata has been started in the branch of
mechanical engineering. The chapter of IEI was established in our institution (i.e. Government
Women Engineering College, Ajmer) in 2014 under the supervision of Mr. Yashvin Gupta.
Various activates were organized under this chapter and great participation is registered. Some of
activities are aptitude competition in which participation of almost 300 students is note, time to
time expert lectures and workshops.
IEI time to time motivates the students to create opportunities for other students and its regular
workshops are very helpful for students to gain knowledge in different sectors and new
technology.
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENT SQUAD (MESS)
Mechanical Engineering Student Squad (MESS), A student society of mechanical engineering
students for social, technical, cultural and corporate initiative. Different activities organized by
this society. MESS was established in our institution (i.e. Government Women Engineering
College, Ajmer). Faculty advisor of MESS is Mr. Yashvin Gupta.
MESS focuses on overall development of student and under this society not only technological
and educational but also cultural activities are organized to enhance the creativity of students.
Various activities are organized such as workshops on personality development, mechanical gettogether,
debate competition, FMEA workshop, Comet (IIT BHU technical fest) etc.
A student committee is responsible for successful running of MESS in our institution and under
this time to time activities are organized.
SPIC MACAY
cultural heritage.
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY
Department of mechanical engineering has been established a departmental library for the benefit
of the students. Total 300 title are available in the departmental library.
This library is a great initiative from the department to provide help to students by providing
them book. The library also takes books from the students for whom they are worthless and
provide it to those in need thus saves money and paper and thus environment. The main motive
of library is to circulate the information flow between students and provide them platform to
