Premium OverLand saFari vehiCLes
Take the business class in an aeroplane, rip the wings off, add wheels and
there you have it, the most luxurious overland safari vehicle available in
Africa! The team at Africa4us, who are actually more like a family passionate
about everything to do with Africa, put all the research in and invested heavily
in creating a premium seat setup, and are proud to introduce the Ultimate
Safari Seat (USS) to our passengers.
Sinking into this seat for the first time, with all the legroom you could
possibly need with its footrest, made it hard to believe that it was perched
on a combination of a truck chassis and in a custom-built coach body! This
combination is clearly aimed at offering maximum dependability as well as
luxury and comfort at the perfect height from which to view the stunning
landscape and wildlife that Africa has to offer.
You will experience comfort and a touch of luxury on all our vehicles – as
we feel the “nice to have” became the “need to have” – due to the hours
spent on the road. Same applies if you have chosen to camp out under the
African Sky, you will be provided with a mattress made for comfort with a
solid backing and memory foam on top to give you a great night’s sleep and
a matching pillow. Another ‘little’ luxury on board is a dedicated fridge for
your drinks along the way to quench your thirst, along with an air conditioner
to keep you cool on hot African days with the addition of curtains that will
protect you from the sun if it gets too harsh!
Safety is an essential element when it comes to our vehicles and their bodies,
and not only have they all passed the stringent SABS “roll-over” and “breakover”
tests, but they undergo extensive roadworthy tests every six months.
Our strict maintenance policies ensure all vehicles are serviced every 10
000km’s - surpassing manufacturer’s standards.
The ‘kitchen’ under the coach consists of a gas/propane stove and everything
needed to set up breakfast, lunch and dinner while you seat yourself on
comfy chairs around a table, with an awning that can be pulled out to provide
protection from rain and sun. Also hidden under the coach are the spacious
luggage compartments.
From the mechanic and stores manager to the director, the family at Africa4us
are passionate about taking you on the adventure of your life through Africa
in style and luxury!
From years of experience roughing it through many African Adventure Tours,
the team at Africa4us know that the choice of vehicle is paramount to the
success of every adventure. From that experience we knew that standard
bus or coach vehicles were just not strong enough or dependable enough
to carry all the extra weight and equipment that we have to carry along on
our tours. Negotiating on challenging terrain and roads in the harsh African
climate makes the choice of vehicle very important and after almost 17 years
on the road, we have built up an exceptional backup system throughout
Africa with our manufacturer.
Solar panels
Reclining seats with
exceptional space
Our Fleet is ideal for
all road conditions
Storage for your main luggage
Road conditions can vary from brand new to very poor condition. This style of travel is
adventurous by nature, as we are travelling in an overland safari vehicle. This allows us
the flexibility of making stops when needed and reaching some out-of-the way parts of
Africa where traditional tours would not dare to go. Please note that our vehicles do not
have on-board bathrooms. Not to worry; there are many places to stop en route. This is not
a physically demanding journey; however, travelling can be somewhat tiresome with long
drives and poor road conditions at times. Please take note of the travel times and distances
in your itinerary and consider that this is often on poor quality, bumpy roads. We have gone
to great lengths to provide a comfortable and frankly unique seating experience which will
make your journey a lot more fun!
Camping Tours
This tour gives the budget traveller 9 days to discover Botswana and the Victoria Falls.
Begin your nine-day journey of discovery in Namibia and finish at the Victoria Falls in Zambia. Each region offers a
different experience of overwhelming beauty. On one hand, you have a Natural Wonder of the World: Victoria Falls,
which is a magical realm of mist-soaked rainforest shrouded by the deafening roar of cascading water. On the other
hand, you have Botswana, which is home to 70 percent of the Kalahari Desert and the Okavango Delta, one of the
largest inland deltas in the world.
This tour delivers an unforgettable experience as you dance with the San (Bushmen), do a mokoro excursion in the
Okavango Delta, discover wildlife in Chobe National Park, and soak up the incredible views of Victoria Falls.
You have the option to go on a 2-night fly-in Okavango Delta Safari. This is an optional activity and it is not
included in the tour price. Included in the tour is a day excursion into the Delta.
Also available from Victoria Falls to Windhoek.
Tour name: Falls and Delta Premium Camping Adventure.
See departure dates on web or back of brochure.
Day 1: Windhoek
Explore Windhoek during the day and meet your group
and your Tour Leader in the evening to get acquainted
and review your trip details. Windhoek is the capital of
Namibia and a great place to visit. One of the most famous
attractions is the display of 33 meteorites, the Gibeon
Meteorites in the Post Street Mall. For the historically
inclined there are many museums and historical buildings
within walking distance around the town centre. One of
the most widely photographed and a historical landmark
is the Christ Church, a Lutheran church, built in the Gothic
revival style.
Day 2: Windhoek to Ghanzi
Depart Windhoek early for a long drive through the eastern
part of Namibia, crossing the border into Botswana and
travelling into the heart of the Kalahari Desert. Ghanzi is
the area where San (Bushmen) live who still have the
knowledge of an ancient lifestyle and who are eager to
welcome visitors into their almost forgotten world. In the
evening, enjoy an optional ancient dance ritual performed
around a campfire by the San and if the night is clear, enjoy
the sparkling, starry skies for which Ghanzi is famous.
Day 3: Ghanzi to Maun
Before departing Ghanzi, enjoy an optional morning walk
with the San (Bushmen) as they display their survival skills
that have been passed on through generations. Arrive in
Maun, Botswana’s fifth largest town, after lunchtime. You
have the option to get a spectacular birds-eye view of the
Okavango Delta from above in a small fixed wing aircraft
(weather permitting). Looking down on the Delta will give
you a fair idea of the magnitude of this massive mix of land
and water with its intricate system of channels and islands.
You might also see families of elephant, giraffe, and herds
of buffalo or even hippos.
Day 4: Maun
Today you experience a new way of travelling –go into
the Okavango Delta with a mokoro just as the locals do.
You are transferred to the “polling’’ station either with a
motorized boat or a 4x4 vehicle depending on the water
levels of the Delta. A mokoro is a traditional dug-out canoe
that seats two people and is steered by a “poler” standing
at the back, manoeuvring the mokoro downstream with a
pole, very much like the gondoliers in Venice. Gliding along
on the quiet waters, use the opportunity to take exquisite
photos of your surroundings. The duration of the trail
depends on the time of year and water levels of the Delta.
You stop for lunch at an island and enjoy a nature walk of a
few hours, then head back to Maun, enjoying a last hour or
two on the water while the late afternoon sun starts setting
on the horizon.
Day 5: Maun to Elephant Sands
Set out for Elephant Sands, a campsite close to the village
Nata. This camp is famous for its watering hole, voted
as one of the top ten watering holes in Africa. Expect to
see animals such as wild dogs, different antelope species
and of course elephants that walk through the campsite
searching for fresh water. This will probably be the closest
you will get to these wild animals on foot.
Day 6: Elephant Sands to Chobe River (Kasane)
Continue to the small town of Kasane, adjacent to the
Chobe National Park & Chobe River. Relish the views
during your included afternoon sunset boat cruise. Take
a sundowner with you as you search for wildlife such as
elephant, buffalo, kudu, bushbuck, hippo, giraffe and sable
on the banks of the Chobe River. There is an opportunity
to go on an optional Photo Safari at your own expense,
you will though forfeit the included afternoon sunset boat
cruise.
Day 7: Chobe River (Kasane) to Livingstone
(Victoria Falls)
There is no better way to start your day in search of wild
animals on your included game drive in the Chobe National
Park. We cross into Zambia and enjoy a short drive to
the magnificent Victoria Falls. The Victoria Falls is not
the widest or highest falls but is regarded as the world’s
biggest.
Day 8: Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
Today you have time for some action-filled activities on
offer. Bungee jump or gorge swing off the Victoria Falls
Bridge that links Zambia and Zimbabwe or choose a half
day or full day white water rafting adventure. Many of our
groups opt to book their final evening together aboard a
sunset cruise along the Zambezi River with game-viewing,
beautiful scenery and an open bar.
Day 9: Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
Our last goodbye, a healthy breakfast and the end of
another incredible tour.
Day 3 - 5: (Optional Fly-in 2 Night Delta Experience)
Once you arrive in Maun on Day 3, you are transferred to
the camp with a light aircraft where you are welcomed by
your personal guide. The camp is situated on the edge of
Chief’s Island, in the heart of the Okavango, bordering the
Moremi Game Reserve. Day 4 you are guided on a nature
walk with a professional guide (a maximum of two guests
per guide), returning for a late breakfast. Spent a relaxing
day in the fresh waters of the Delta. In the afternoon, you
venture out in a mokoro in search of birds and possibly
some wildlife and get a chance to visit the nearby islands.
After breakfast on day 5, you return to Maun, where you
join the group to set out for Elephant Sands.
A long, but worthwhile drive in a north-east direction to
the jewel of Zambia, South Luangwa National Park. We
vehicles. South Luangwa is the southernmost national
park in the valley of the Luangwa River and regarded by
many experts as one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries
in the world. Be on the lookout for elephant lazily grazing,
search for the well-known red lion nicknamed Ginger, stop
at towering Thornicroft giraffe, great herds of buffalo, puku,
zebra and pods of hippos. Get lost in a spectacular world
with trees such as mopane, tamarind, sausage and marula.
You have the option to book an afternoon or night game
drive as an optional activity.
Day 6: South Luangwa National Park to Kande Beach
Kande offers a total change of scenery next to Lake
Malawi, also named The Lake of Stars by explorer David
Tanzania, this great body of water is lined with picturesque
thatched roofed huts and colourful washing fluttering on
washing lines. On arrival, plunge down in a hammock in the
characterful bar of Kande Beach or sit in the early evening
on the beach to enjoy the cool breeze blowing from the
lake.
Day 7: Kande Beach
The day begins with a taste of local life when you go on
a village tour with one of the local guides. You learn more
about the culture and daily life of the local people. Use your
time of leisure to experience the novelty of diving in fresh
water with a Padi accredited diving centre or just bask in
the sun on the beach, take a swim in the fresh water, or
take a kayak or pedal boat out.
Day 8: Kande Beach to Chitimba Beach
En route to Chitimba, we drive through a rubber tree forest.
Your adventure crew will show you the process of rubber
tree tapping and how the farmers collect the latex from
these trees. Stop for shopping in Mzuzu, the third largest
city in Malawi and the centre of the agricultural region. We
arrive at Chitimba camp after lunch, you have the afternoon
free to relax on the beach or visit the market just outside
the camp.
Day 9: Chitimba Beach
Today is a relaxing day. Do an optional hike to the
Livingstonia Museum or try your hand at wood crafting
lessons, go on a guided hike, village tours or challenge one
of the locals at their most popular game called Bao - the
Swahili name for a board game.
Day 10: Lake Malawi to Iringa
Our journey continues to Iringa, a region famous for woven
reed baskets not only used locally but also exported
internationally. We overnight on a working farm with sheep,
cattle and a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers. Old
ruins had been converted into The Mud Ruins Bar and
Restaurant, keeping the original 70-year-old structures
intact. Enjoy a hearty dinner prepared with produce from
the farm while candles and lanterns lit up this charismatic
ruin with natural ambiance and rustic elegance.
Day 11: Iringa to Dar es Salaam
Rise early for a long drive to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s
largest city. We drive through beautiful scenery like the
winding road through Baobab Valley - a valley filled with
baobab trees of all shapes and ages. Closer to Dar the
population becomes denser though no more the capital of
Tanzania it remains an important economical centre. The
chaotic streets of Dar es Salaam challenge your senses
with an onslaught of colours, smells and noise. Buy an
ice cream, peanuts or charcoal grilled maize through
the windows of the truck while it crawls through the
insane traffic. The day ends with a good night’s rest in a
comfortable bed or enjoy a night out about town exploring.
Day 12: Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar (Nungwi Beach)
A short ferry trip takes us from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar.
On arrival at the harbour, you are met by a local guide for
a spice tour. Learn how spices such as cinnamon, cloves,
nutmeg vanilla and peppercorns are grown and harvested
and inhale the different fragrances wandering through the
crops. After a tasty Swahili lunch, we continue to Nungwi
Beach.
Day 13: Nungwi Beach
Enjoy a day exploring this historic town or simply relax
at your hotel next to the pool. Nungwi offers white
sandy beaches, stage-set palm trees, turquoise sea and
sunshine. Take part in activities like snorkeling, scuba
diving or guided walks.
Day 14: Nungwi Beach to Stone Town
A private transfer takes you to Stone Town. Explore this
historic town with its maze of alleys lined with houses,
shops, bazaars and mosques. Wander through the narrow
streets filled with the fragrance of incense and spices,
to add the distinct “Zanzibar smell” to your memories.
Incredible architecture and enormous brass-studded
wooden doors offer endless photo opportunities. Although
the Zanzibarians in their long, elegantly flowing garments
are tempting to photograph, please be sensitive to their
privacy and ask first.
Day 15: Stone Town to Bagamoyo
Leave Stone Town via ferry to meet up with your overland
safari vehicle for the transfer to Bagamoyo, approximately
80km north of Dar es Salaam. Bagamoyo was the most
important trading post of Eastern Africa in the 19th century.
A small fishing village, rich in history. Enjoy freshly caught
fish cooked to your delight at the fish market situated on
the beach.
Day 16: Bagamoyo to Arusha
We depart early for Arusha, a bustling city located on the
eastern side of the Great Rift Valley. You might just get a
glimpse of Mount Kilimanjaro, usually veiled behind clouds.
Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano and the highest freestanding
mountain in Africa. Watch how the landscapes
change from tropical palm trees, banana and paw-paw
trees to open savannah and acacia trees. You will see true
Masai minding their cattle. We overnight at Meserani Snake
Park, a true community orientated campsite. Drink an icecold
Kilimanjaro beer or soda with the knowledge that you
are contributing to the community.
Day 17: Arusha to Serengeti National Park
A long scenic drive to the Serengeti. The Serengeti
Migration was officially declared as one of the 7 Natural
Wonders of Africa in, 2013. Serengeti National Park is also
a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We use 4x4 safari vehicles
for the duration of the Serengeti & Crater excursion. This is
one of the best areas to observe pride of lion in their natural
environment. You might also spot blue wildebeest, gazelle,
zebra and buffalo. Tonight, you will be sleeping in the wild
in an unfenced camp in the middle of the Serengeti. You
might just fall asleep to the sound of a lion roaring, calling
for his females, the haunting call of the hyena or the lonely
cry of jackal.
Day 18: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro
Conservation Area
Enjoy an early breakfast before your safari begins. We
do game drives in the Serengeti until around lunch time,
then crossover to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The
Crater is the world’s largest inactive, unfilled and intact
volcanic caldera. The crater is home to roughly 25,000
large animals. Be on the lookout for buffalo, zebra, or
elephant which might just wander into the campsite.
Day 19: Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Karatu
Enjoy a final early morning game drive into the Crater.
Descending 600 metres from the crater rim to the bottom
of the crater will feel like entering an ancient world. Massive
candelabra cacti stand watch along the slopes and
inside the crater, you will find a mini-world with a lake, a
swamp, a river, grassland and forest. Have cameras ready
for endangered black rhino, elephants with long, white,
curved tusks, spotted hyena, herds of wildebeest clowning
around, skittish zebra or the jackpot of any game drive,
the big cats - lion, leopard and cheetah. You have the
afternoon free to enjoy cocktails next to the swimming pool
or go on a village walk.
Day 20: Karatu to Nairobi
Today is a relaxing drive crossing the Tanzania / Kenya
border. Explore the city of Nairobi, which highlights include
Nairobi National Museum, Railway Museum, Karen Blixen
Museum, The Village Market, Giraffe Centre and Bomas of
Kenya, but perhaps the most famous tourist attraction is
Carnivore, an open-air restaurant featuring an all-you-caneat
meat buffet.
Day 1: Cape Town
Explore the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town during the day
and meet your group and your Tour Leader in the evening
at 18:00 to get acquainted and review your trip details.
Cape Town offers an unbelievable variety of experiences,
tastes and sightseeing. Make sure to arrive a day early to
go to world famous Robben Island where former President
Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in prison, visit
Cape Point or go with a cable car up Table Mountain to
enjoy a panoramic view of Cape Town from the top.
Day 2: Cape Town
After breakfast, we depart for the Cape of Good Hope at
the tip of the Cape Peninsula. Rugged rocks and sheer
cliffs tower more than 200m above sea level. The natural
vegetation of the area, fynbos, comprises the smallest but
richest of the world’s six flora kingdoms. After lunch we
visit the endangered African Penguin Colony at Boulder’s
Beach in Simonstown.
Day 3: Cape Town to Strandfontein
We head north to the West Coast of South Africa, to
Strandfontein, a popular tourist attraction with a picturesque
shoreline. Watch as Sandpipers, Gulls and Oystercatchers
scavenge for food. On the way to Strandfontein, we stop
for a short walk to the Heerenlogement Cave close to the
small town Graafwater. This shelter has earned itself the
name of “Holiday Inn of the 17th century” due to all the
people who took refuge there on a temporary basis.
Day 4: Strandfontein to Augrabies Falls National Park
Our next stop is the Augrabies Falls National Park. Named
by the local Khoi residents “Aukoerebis” – meaning “Place
of big noise” in Nama. The most spectacular feature of
this National Park is the Augrabies Falls. This is a very arid
environment, vegetation is hardy and includes succulents,
aloes, acacias and the Namaqua fig. Augrabies is ideal for
self-hikes, birdwatching and is also home to 46 mammal
species.
Day 5: Augrabies Falls National Park to Kgalagadi
Transfrontier Park
This park is an amalgamation of the Kalahari Gemsbok
National Park in South Africa and the Gemsbok National
Park in Botswana, bordering Namibia on the west. It
comprises an area of over 3.6 million hectares – one of very
few conservation areas of this magnitude left in the world.
Red sand dunes, sparse vegetation and the dry riverbeds
show antelope and predators off to spectacular advantage
and provide excellent photographic opportunities.
Overnight just outside the park.
Day 6: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
A day for photo opportunities, we visit the park for a full
day’s game drive. This is a land of contrast and unique
beauty, red sand dunes with a backdrop of deep blue
sky. Here you find straight-horned oryx wandering in
the waving yellow-gold dune bushman grass. Majestic
camel thorn trees on open plains give home and shade
to many of the Kalahari’s dwellers. The sparse vegetation
and the dry riverbeds show antelope and predators off to
spectacular advantage and provide excellent photographic
opportunities. Keep cameras ready for the famous blackmane
Kalahari lions.
Day 7: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park to Seeheim
We cross the South African / Namibian border and travel
to Seeheim. Early in the 20th century, the sole purpose
of this small town was that of a junction station between
Keetmanshoop, Lüderitz and Karasburg. This rustic oasis
in the desert built from stone is where you will be spending
your first night under the Namibian starlit sky.
Day 8: Seeheim to Sesriem
Sesriem is a small settlement located in the Namib Desert.
The name Sesriem means “six belts’ and was named by the
Dorsland Trekkers, a group of Afrikaans-speaking settlers.
It is said that they had to tie together 6 belts (made of oryx
hide) to reach buckets down into the Sesriem Canyon to
scoop up water. The Sesriem Canyon is a natural canyon
carved in sedimentary rock.
Day 9: Sesriem
An early departure will give you the opportunity to climb
the majestic Dune 45 during the cooler time of the day.
Make use of the opportunity for an optional transfer to
the famous Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, relax in the shade of
camel thorn trees or take a short walk in the dunes. The
Namib, a minimum of 55 million years old, is regarded as
the oldest desert in the world. The sand is coloured red due
to the high levels of iron oxide. These dunes are known as
star dunes, created by winds blowing from all directions
and is also known as the highest sand dunes in the world.
Late afternoon, we visit the Sesriem Canyon, a miniature
canyon by world standards but beautiful to walk around
in and appreciate the distinctive sedimentary rocks and
conglomerate that line the canyon walls.
Day 10: Sesriem to Windhoek
Travel to Windhoek, Namibia’s capital. Spend the last
few hours of the day exploring Windhoek and its strong
German influence. You’ll have the option to celebrate your
last night and your new friendships at one of Windhoek’s
well know restaurants.
Explore Namibia in style over 12 days.
You’ll have 12 magnificent days to explore, starting off in Windhoek, Namibia one of the smallest and cleanest
capital cities in the world where you can treat yourself to the famous locally brewed beer, the Windhoek Lager.
Journey over the Namib desert with its splendid red dunes and go on safari in Etosha National Park. Meet one of
the last semi-nomadic tribes of Africa, support our Africa4us Kids Project and capture that perfect moment where
you feel a true connection with Africa.
Day 1: Windhoek
Explore Windhoek during the day and meet your group and
your Tour Leader in the evening at 18:00 to get acquainted
and review your trip details. Windhoek is a tiny capital
town with loads of interesting things to offer. One of the
most famous is the display of 33 meteorites, the Gibeon
Meteorites in the Post Street Mall. For the historically
inclined there are many museums and historical buildings
within walking distance around the town centre. One of the
most widely photographed and a historical landmark is the
Christ Church, a Lutheran church, built in the Gothic revival
style.
Day 2: Windhoek to Gobabeb
Head southwest towards the Namib Desert. Enjoy a
scenic drive, beautiful in a unique and rugged way. The
Gobabeb Training & Research Centre was founded in 1962
and the center conducts research on climate, ecology,
geomorphology and test, demonstrate and promote
Appropriate Technologies. Two days of interesting and
educational activities lie ahead. After dinner, you get the
opportunity to go scorpion hunting or just relax next to the
campfire and count the satellites passing over in the starlit
Namibian sky.
Day 3: Gobabeb
After breakfast, you go on a Desert Research Station
tour with local guides explaining and demonstrating the
different tests and research that they conduct daily. In the
afternoon, you go on a guided nature walk to learn more
about the creatures living in the seemingly barren desert.
There is much more in a desert than what meets the eye
and that going about unseen is a survival trait of many of
the desert’s inhabitants. Climb a nearby sand dune and
enjoy a sundowner and stunning desert sunset.
Day 4: Gobabeb to Swakopmund
Continue to Swakopmund with its cooler Atlantic sea
air, cultural experiences and options for some extreme
adventures like quad biking, sand boarding, 4x4 safaris
and skydiving (weather permitting). The only meal provided
today is breakfast as Swakopmund has plenty of great
places to experience the local cuisine.
12
Day 5: Swakopmund
Swakopmund’s variety of attractions and activities, cater
for all tastes and styles. Take a walk along the beach and
dip your toes in the icy Atlantic Ocean, or visit the Kristal
Gallery which boasts with the largest Quartz Crystal Cluster
on display in the world, weighing in at 14,100 kilograms.
Browse the many excellent bookshops and curio shops
and spoil yourself with a unique gift from the area.
Day 6: Swakopmund to Brandberg
We travel north to Brandberg which is home to Königstein,
at 2,573m above sea level the highest peak in Namibia.
Relax at your campsite or make use of the opportunity
to visit the famous White Lady Bushmen painting in the
Brandberg. Enjoy the breath-taking scenery along the
riverbed on the way to the famous “lady”, with multicoloured
rocks that take on various shades of flaming
orange in the late afternoon, giving the mountain its name.
Day 7: Brandberg to Twyfelfontein
Today is a short drive to another area famous for desert
elephant. Twyfelfontein means “spring of doubt”. Like
Brandberg, Twyfelfontein is a site of ancient art and sacred
rituals portrayed in the at least 2,500 rock engravings. It
is also a proclaimed UNESCO World Heritage Site. Use
the opportunity to discover more about one of Namibia’s
oldest tribes, the Damara. A visit to the Damara Living
Museum can be added to your optional activities list.
Day 8: Twyfelfontein to Opuwo
The morning starts early for the drive to Opuwo. In the
afternoon, we go on a guided walk to a traditional Himba
village and learn more about the Himba culture and the
Himba tribes with their trademark, red ochre body paint.
Day 9: Opuwo to Etosha National Park
Travel through the vast expanses of Northern Namibia to
Etosha National Park, one of Southern Africa’s most loved
wildlife sanctuaries. Head out for a game drive to search
for elephant, antelope and lion around their watering holes.
Etosha is home to more than 100 species of mammals
including the endangered black rhino. Tonight is one of
the highlights of your trip as you sleep under the stars in a
luxury tented camp, the Dolomite Camp in Western Etosha.
Day 10: Etosha National Park
Enjoy a full day’s game drive. Gather memories of unique
sights that you will not likely experience again. Watch
how ghostly grey-white elephants bathe themselves in
the white dust of the area or zoom in on the magnificent
sight of giraffes etched against a wide and open horizon.
You can book an optional night game drive or relax and
observe the animals clustered around the camp waterhole.
Day 11: Etosha National Park to Windhoek
Travel to Windhoek, Namibia’s capital. Spend the last
Travel from Windhoek in Namibia via Botswana to the Victoria Falls in Zambia over 9 days.
Begin your nine-day journey of discovery in Namibia and finish at the Victoria Falls in Zambia. Each region offers
a different experience of overwhelming beauty. On one hand, you have a Natural Wonder of the World: Victoria
Falls, which is a magical realm of mist-soaked rainforest shrouded by the deafening roar of cascading water. On
the other hand, you have Botswana, which is home to 70 percent of the Kalahari Desert and the Okavango Delta,
one of the largest inland deltas in the world. This tour delivers an unforgettable experience as you dance with the
San (Bushmen), do a mokoro excursion in the Okavango Delta, discover wildlife in Chobe National Park, and soak
up the incredible views of Victoria Falls.
(You have the option to go on a 2-night fly-in Okavango Delta Safari. This is an optional activity and it is not
included in the tour price. Included in the tour is a day excursion into the Delta).
Also available from Victoria Falls to Windhoek.
Tour name: Falls and Delta Premium Accommodated Adventure.
See departure dates on web or back of brochure.
Day 1: Windhoek
Explore Windhoek during the day and meet your group and
your Tour Leader in the evening at 18:00 to get acquainted
and review your trip details. Windhoek is a tiny capital town
but very interesting. One of the most famous attractions is
the display of 33 meteorites, the Gibeon Meteorites in the
Post Street Mall. Here you can take pictures of and touch
these extra-terrestrial bodies that are corrosive resistant
due to the high amount of nickel in them. One of the most
widely photographed and a historical landmark is the Christ
Church, a Lutheran church, built in the Gothic revival style.
Before departing Ghanzi, enjoy a morning walk with the
San (Bushmen) as they display their survival skills that
have been passed on through generations. Arrive in Maun,
Botswana’s fifth largest town, after lunchtime. You have the
option to get a spectacular birds-eye view of the Okavango
Delta from above in a small fixed wing aircraft (weather
permitting). Looking down on the Delta will give you a fair
idea of the magnitude of this massive mix of land and water
with its intricate system of channels and islands.
Day 4: Maun
Today you experience a new way of travelling – go into
the Okavango Delta with a mokoro just as the locals do.
Gliding along
on the quiet water use the opportunity to take exquisite
photos of your surroundings. You stop for lunch at an
island and enjoy a nature walk of a few hours, then head
back to Maun, enjoying a last hour or two on the water
while the late afternoon sun starts setting on the horizon.
Day 5: Maun to Elephant Sands
Set out for Elephant Sands, a lodge close to the village
of Nata.
Take
your own sundowner with you as you look for wildlife on the
banks of the Chobe River. Game such as elephant, buffalo,
kudu, bushbuck, hippo, giraffe and sable are commonly
seen along the river edge, and it’s a birdwatcher’s paradise
during the summer months.
Day 7: Chobe River (Kasane) to Livingstone
(Victoria Falls)
We cross into Zambia and enjoy a short drive to the
magnificent Victoria Falls. The Victoria Falls is not the
widest or highest falls but is regarded as the world’s
biggest. It produces a breath-taking curtain of falling water
as it drops into the gorge below.
Day 8: Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
Today you have time for some action-filled activities on
offer. Bungee jump or gorge swing off the Victoria Falls
Bridge that links Zambia and Zimbabwe or choose a half
day or full day white water rafting adventure. Many of our
groups opt to book their final evening together aboard a
sunset cruise along the Zambezi River with game-viewing,
beautiful scenery and an open bar.
balmy, sub-tropical climate and golden beaches.
Day 2: Umhlanga Rocks (Durban) to Golden Gate
Highlands National Park
The journey takes us past Pietermaritzburg and Bergville
before reaching the Drakensberg mountain range and
the Golden Gate Highlands National Park in the early
afternoon. Witnessing a sunset in this National Park will
make you realize how fitting the name is. The magnificent
sandstone cliffs take on all hues of gold and orange during
sunrises and sunsets. Explore numerous caves and
shelters displaying San (Bushmen) rock paintings and spot
wildlife such as mongoose, eland, zebra and over 100 bird
species.
Day 3: Golden Gate National Park to Lesotho
(Malealea Lodge)
Travel to Lesotho, a small landlocked country in South
Africa and home to the friendly Basotho people. Called the
Kingdom in the Sky or the Mountain Kingdom, Lesotho is
the place where you can walk along spectacular mountain
passes, cool your feet in icy cold mountain streams and fill
your soul with the endless peace the endless mountains
represent. Once settled in, you have time to relax and
enjoy the spectacular surroundings or do some exciting
optional activities that Malealea offers - pre-school visit,
village walk, vegetable garden visit, do hiking trails, pony
treks or even visit a sangoma (traditional medicine man).
For a truly authentic experience, request a homestay with
a local family.
Day 4: Malealea Lodge
Sleep in or wake up early to enjoy the most of the fresh
mountain air. On activities, such as horse riding or a hiking
trail you might get the opportunity to wave at young herd
boys in their traditional gumboots and blankets, and marvel
at the remoteness of some of the round thatched roofed
huts, nestled high against a mountain slope.
Day 5: Malealea Lodge to Graaff-Reinet
Journey to Graaff-Reinet, the fourth oldest town in South
Africa. The beautiful historical town of Graaff-Reinet boasts
more national monuments than any other town or city in
South Africa. There are also several art galleries and craft
shops to cater for the tastes of the artistically inclined.
Explore the town on foot and enjoy a meal at one of the
many local restaurants. Round your meal off with sweet
16
delicatessens such as koeksisters, melktert or the famous
malva pudding.
Day 6: Graaff-Reinet to Addo Elephant National Park
From Graaff-Reinet you head south, travelling through the
open semi-desert Karoo landscapes with its distinctive flattopped
hills or “koppies” and picturesque wind pumps in
the distance. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Addo
Elephant National Park and have your camera ready while
searching for elephant, buffalo, lion, kudu or any of the
hundreds of other species of animals and birds.
Day 7: Addo Elephant National Park to Tsitsikamma
National Park
After an early morning game drive, we head to Tsitsikamma
National Park which is located on the scenic Garden Route,
the stretch of coast from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape
to Storms River in the Eastern Cape. The national park
covers large swaths of indigenous forest, commercial
plantation and Fynbos. The climate is mild all year around,
which lends itself to outdoor activities.
Day 8: Tsitsikamma National Park
You have the day free. Choose from self-guided hikes,
black water tubing, Bloukrans bungee, a treetop canopy
tour and abseiling. Take the short hike that crosses the
famous hanging bridge across the dark and brooding
Storms River or do the longer adventurous hike over
boulders and through stretches of forest to a waterfall
where the tannins from the trees colour the water dark
brown.
Day 9: Tsitsikamma National Park to Mossel Bay
Today you take a short drive along the Garden Route, so
named for the ecologically diverse vegetation found in the
numerous lagoons and lakes along the coast. After settling
in, visit the Diaz Museum, which features a 500-year-old
Post Office Tree, a life-size replica of the Diaz Caravel, a
Enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants nearby.
December, we re-route via Route 62, a spectacular
drive through the Klein Karoo
Day 10: Mossel Bay to Stellenbosch
We continue to Stellenbosch, the second oldest European
settlement in the Western Cape. Stellenbosch is a town
that became known as ‘The City of Oaks’ or ‘Eikestad’
in Afrikaans and Dutch due to the large number of Oak
trees planted by founder Simon van der Stel. Explore the
town’s numerous curio shops, museums, coffee shops and
restaurants all within walking distance.
Day 11: Stellenbosch to Cape Town
Celebrate a great holiday with a wine tasting at one of
the numerous wine farms that Stellenbosch is known for.
This also offers an excellent opportunity to buy wine direct
from the farm it was produced at and which you might not
always find in supermarkets. Then continue to Cape Town,
the most popular tourist destination in Africa.
Day 12: Cape Town
After breakfast, we depart for the Cape of Good Hope
Nature Reserve at the tip of the Cape Peninsula. Rugged
rocks and sheer cliffs tower more than 200m above sea
level. The reserve is part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, the
smallest of the six recognized floral kingdoms in the world,
but regarded as the richest, mostly made up with Fynbos,
the hard-stemmed and fine-leaved plants indigenous to the
south-western corner of South Africa. After lunch, we visit
a colony of the endangered African Penguin at Boulders
Beach in Simonstown.
Day 13: Cape Town
Our last goodbye, a healthy breakfast and the end of
another incredible tour. Make sure to book extra days
in Cape Town to make the best of all the delights this
cosmopolitan city offers. Cape Town offers a staggering
variety of experiences, tastes and sightseeing. Take a boat
to the world-famous Robben Island where former President
Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in prison, visit
Cape Point or go up Table Mountain with a cable car to
enjoy a panoramic view of Cape Town from the top.
along rolling green hills, vast sugarcane plantations and
countless mango trees. Arriving at Mlilwane you will soon
reed dance where the king has the opportunity to choose
a new wife.
Day 6: Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary to St Lucia
and grasslands supporting a wide variety of animal, bird
and marine life. We enjoy an afternoon sunset boat cruise
on the St. Lucia Estuary, one of the largest in Africa. Expect
to see hippo, Nile crocodiles and hundreds of bird species.
Day 7: St Lucia
drive safaris, snorkeling and much more.
Day 8: St Lucia to Umhlanga Rocks (Durban)
and a variety of crops of vegetables, herbs and flowers.
Kisolanza is the perfect halfway travellers haven on the
lanterns lit up this charismatic ruin with natural ambiance
and rustic elegance.
Rise early for a long drive to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s
largest city. We drive through beautiful scenery like the
privacy and ask first.
change from tropical palm trees, banana and paw-paw
trees to open savannah and acacia trees. You will see true
for the duration of the Serengeti & Crater excursion. This is
one of the best areas to observe pride of lion in their natural
environment. Tonight, you will be sleeping in the wild in an
unfenced camp in the middle of the Serengeti. You might
just fall asleep to the sound of a lion roaring, calling for his
females, the haunting call of the hyena or the lonely cry
of jackal.

Day 18: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro
Conservation Area
Enjoy an early breakfast before your safari begins. We
Village Market, Giraffe Centre, Bomas of Kenya and Karura
Forest.
Day 2: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru is situated in the Great Rift Valley and known
for its thousands of flamingos nesting on its shores. You
may spot endangered black rhino, buffalo, impala, hyena
and pythons. Spend most of the day on a game drive
through the park. Stay in comfortable rooms on a working
farm. Relax under the shade of the farm’s many Acacia
trees.
Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara
National Reserve
Prepare for a long drive. Sections of bad roads which will
give you the “African massage”, the local term for shaking
around a bit when the going gets tough. End the day at
the Masai Mara National Reserve for a late afternoon game
drive, if time allows.
Day 4: Masai Mara National Reserve
soapstone region. The town hosts a diverse collection of
country and garden hotels. Camp at the Itibo Resort, a cool
and serene environment, perfect for winding off from the
hustle & bustle of city life.
Before leaving Kisii we visit a local soapstone factory that
shows the whole process from excavation to carving.
fraction of the price of other tourist shops. Cross the border
into Tanzania and head to Musoma, which is situated on
the eastern edge of Lake Victoria. Camp on the shores of
Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake and the largest tropical
lake in the world.
Journey to the Serengeti, which is renowned for its large
lion population and one of the best places to observe them
in their natural environment. We use 4x4 safari vehicles
one night camping in the central Seronera area. A custom
designed comfortable mattress is provided as well as a
comfortable and durable sleeping bag and pillow. Listen to
the sounds the night offers while you doze off.
Descending 600 metres from the crater rim to the bottom
of the crater will feel like entering an ancient world. Massive
candelabra cacti stand watch along the slopes and inside
the crater, you will find a mini-world with a lake, a swamp,
a river, grassland and forest. Have cameras ready for
endangered black rhino, elephants with long, white, curved
tusks, spotted hyena, herds of wildebeest and the jackpot
Africa4us kids project
As part of Africa4us’s commitment to responsible tourism,
the Africa4us Kids Project aims to empower Africa’s children
through education and sharing initiatives.
Giving Back to Africa
As ambassadors of Africa to the rest of the world and
especially to visitors, we’re committed to responsible
and ethical tourism. We feel a strong sense of
responsibility to invest our profits back into Africa and
the communities we visit, so each year, we choose a
specific community project to support.
For 2016, we are investing in Africa’s children through
our Africa4us Kids Project. Our goal is to spread
compassion, responsibility and empowerment to the
leaders, the workers and the parents of the future by
encouraging them to read. Books widen our horizons,
foster an interest in other cultures and ideas and impart
valuable wisdom for the future. Reading not only
provides a momentary escape, but it can reduce our
stress, promote analytical thinking and help develop
vocabulary and memory skills.
Take a Book, Leave a Book
Our passengers will set up and build Book Exchange
Structures (and fill them with books) through our
partnerships with local schools and communities. We
will also introduce a “Take a Toy, Leave a Toy” initiative
for smaller children. Imagine the delighted smile on a
child’s face as he or she discovers a new-to-them toy
or a great story!
Africa4us will arrange the venues and cover all
transportation, construction and maintenance costs of
this program. Passengers are asked to bring books and
soft toys to fill up the structures! We believe that with a
consistent approach and a dedication to the initiative,
the children will come to understand, appreciate and
value the free choice and access to books and toys.
Once done with a book or toy, they can return it for
another.
We are in a fortunate position to show visitors the real
Africa – and whilst doing so also provide the means
for all of us to give something back to this beautiful
continent.
