Our lampshades are made by talented<br />
artisans living in remote, rural villages.<br />
While they use age-old tools and techniques, our<br />
designs are inspired by their natural surroundings<br />
and the simple ways of village life. From metal fishing<br />
baskets to tribal headdresses, and mud huts to<br />
inverted baskets, our lampshades are a contemporary<br />
celebration of traditional living.
The Kitamba Range<br />
Kitamba is our fabric range. As well as our brightly coloured<br />
signature <strong>Ashanti</strong> fabric, you have the option of a more mellow<br />
single-colour Overdye style. It’s our same eco-conscious fabric, dyed<br />
with one colour. The dye holds differently depending on the amount<br />
of cotton in the original offcuts used to make our fabric. That’s how<br />
we get the varying tints and colour intensities in our Overdye finish.

Our sustainably sourced raffia is a natural grass-like material made from<br />
the leaves of the Raffia Palm – a large palm tree that thrives in tropical<br />
Africa. Strong, flexible and easy to dye, raffia is a valuable resource<br />
that our weavers have age-old experience with. Get creative with colour<br />
combinations to create your very own wire-framed raffia lampshades.<br />
They work beautifully indoors or in covered outdoor spaces.

The Mitende Range<br />

meticulously handmade from a variety of natural plant materials<br />
found locally to our artisans, including palm leaf and raffia. From<br />
tight weaves to open plaits, each shape, pattern and technique is<br />

The Mbuni Range<br />
These lights are delicately carved into shape from the eggs of Ostriches –<br />
huge, flightless birds, native to Africa. Our artisans hand-paint the eggshells,<br />
then use waterpaper to gently sand the top layer off. The natural<br />
indentations in the shell hold the paint, creating a textured, speckled effect.<br />
Get creative with your colour choices and warm up your space with the soft,<br />
glowing light that these elegant African artworks give off.
