covers, posters and advertising campaigns.
His paper work has been catalogued in art books such as Paper Art (Hong Kong),
Mekel
Growing up, Mekel always loved to draw. Especially girls in
pretty dresses. She thought about being a fashion designer
but quickly realised she hated sewing and went on to study
graphic arts instead.
After working for over 10 years as a graphic designer for different boutique
agencies in Perth, Western Australia, Mekel started kickin’ goals as a full-time
illustrator.
Her first professional assignments were illustrating ‘More Money for Shoes’
a book by Melissa Browne, and was chosen by Urban Walkabout to illustrate
the front covers of their Perth guides over the course of two seasons. You
may have seen her handwritten logo for Betts Shoes, shoebox and large
watercolour murals for the iconic Australian store.
Mekel joined the Jacky Winter Group in 2014, and now works with clients
across the world, including Twinings, TOPSHOP, Westfield, Elle and Revlon.
She has been interviewed by Vanity Fair and featured as one of their ‘5 mustfollow
fashion illustrators’, and is known for her delicate line work, large scale
watercolours and pops of bright colour.
Mekel has held three solo exhibitions, her first in 2013 for the Perth Fashion
Festival, 2014 ‘Wanderlust‘ for Urban Couture and 2016 for the First Monday
in May Perth premiere.
Mekel lectures at South Metropolitan TAFE teaching social media, eMarketing,
branding and fashion illustration.
Christopher Nielsen
Christopher Nielsen’s illustrations flow forth from a love of
vintage design. His first comics were printed in 1980 after
entering a competition in the Norwegian Anarchist magazine.
Tin toys, Mexican wrestlers, Matchboxes, Medical Charts
and Indian Goddesses all jostle for attention amongst the flotsam and
jetsam in his flip-top head. His images have been adopted by wineries, zoos,
department stores, radio stations and fish mongers around the globe. When
he’s not making images for you or raising children he can be found on stage
with his band The Ramalamas.
His clients include Myer Dept. Store, Penguin Random House, Little Hare
Publishing, Lion Beverages, Variety, Taronga Zoo, Yalumba, Mental Floss,
Luxury Traveller, Kelloggs, Toyota, Audi, H2GO Water, ABC, GQ Magazine, The
Sydney Morning Herald, K.W. Doggett Fine Papers, Jazeera Airlines, Real Deals
Europe, Wish Magazine, MINI International, P&N Bank & Hemispheres.
Celine Singh
Celine is originally from Paris, France but has spent most
of her life living abroad. She is fluent in French, English and
German and regularly works in all 3 languages.
She studied art and design in Paris, and then went on to complete a 2nd
degree in London before moving to Montreal in early 2016.
Her designs include branding, logos and stationery as well as prints and
illustrations.
Her design studio is called Atelier Céline. “Atelier” means studio in French
and is a wink to her roots. Indeed, her designs have a bit of a European flair
to them!
Kid’s Art pages 38–39
Christopher’s work has been acknowledged by The AGDA Awards, 3x3,
Communication Arts, American Illustration, Society Of Illustrators NY, Luerzers
not one of blood, but of respect and joy.
that you’ve always wanted to live in.
CHILDREN It is easier to
FITNESS Who is strong?
One who overpowers
his inclinations.
The juxtaposition of dense rocks floating weightlessly
in the air opens a world of possibility.
Your dreams, passions, people and motives are designed into little island
worlds, precious in their own right. Dot your path with these islands and put
front and centre what is most important, remind yourself of what you need
HELPING OTHERS The
most basic of all human
needs is the need to
understand and to be
understood.
LEISURE Happiness
is not something you
postpone for the future,
it’s something you
design for the present.
Love is friendship
that has caught fire.
It is quiet understanding,
mutual confidence,
is loyalty through good
Reflections
STUART McLACHLAN
CAREER Far and away the best prize that life has to
offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.
KEEP LEARNING Always do your best. What you
plant now, you will harvest later.
FRIENDS AND FAMILY
If you think my hands
are full, you should see
my heart.
Simpler than my other artworks, ’Reflections’ is just that,
a mirror on what is the absolute most important to you.
This artwork is designed to show this in the barest of ways, removing all the
peripheral clutter, leaving only the symbols of what truly represent your
greatest loves.
PARTNER A happy marriage is the union of
two good forgivers.
TRY NEW THINGS
If you hear a voice
within you say ‘you
cannot paint’, then by all
means paint, and that
voice will be silenced.
GRATITUDE If you want
to find happiness, find
gratitude.
LEISURE Play with abandon. Laugh.
SPIRITUALITY Love yourself. Accept yourself.
HELPING OTHERS The
little things can make all
OPTIMISM If you want to
questions if you learn
to relax and wait for the
answer.
Don’t wait. The time will
CAREER Believe in
yourself so strongly that
the world can’t help but
believe in you too.
Whether male or female, the suit and tie have become
the symbol of this ages modern armour.
As business people, it defines power and respect. A protective shield as one
battles through the day to achieve their goals. However, there is a person
underneath who has other interests in life that need to be balanced such as
family, friends and leisure. Populate this suit with imagery dear to you to act as a
reminder of what those things are so you can truly create a life that is in balance.
KEEP LEARNING Even if
you’re on the right track,
you’ll get run over if you
just sit there.
Tree of Life
SIMON CARDWELL
My intention is to create an art work to remind us
of the importance of the Tree of Life.
Within our own lives we often have obstacles and journeys that we are able
to learn from. This tree contains whimsical / fun ideas that you can look at as
part of your inspired journey.
CAREER Always
LEISURE Find the
stillness in every
SPIRITUALITY If
the only prayer
you say in your
would suffice.
