Outcomes: Are they a rehash of Grades or Rubrics? While Rubrics cannot score as Outcomes, Outcomes can be used to score in Rubrics. When deployed in this way they will report Grades to the GradeBook and Outcomes to Learning Mastery in one action. In Learning Mastery they serve as a visual tracker to target vulnerable students based on an average of the results submitted against a suite of assignments or tests. They will position the results against an average that is not determined by the mean, but by one of 4 calculation methods (see bottom of this article) depending on the judgement call made by the teacher appropriate to the assignment or test. In GradeBook they report the overall grade scored by the Outcomes. In this way Learning Mastery is not a rehash of Gradebook since GradeBook is the overall result of component tests that report to Learning Mastery as Outcomes. During the import of Outcomes to an assignment, when the tick box “Use this criterion for scoring” is ticked, your scores within the Rubric/Outcome table go into Learning Mastery and the final grade goes into the Gradebook. 1
