Through increasing digitalization, the world of transportation<br />
has changed dramatically, creating an extraordinary<br />
opportunity for Israeli companies to become significant<br />
players. Five years since the establishment of EcoMotion, we<br />
remain astounded by the rapid and continuing growth of the<br />
smart transportation community and ecosystem.<br />
Moreover, during the past 18 months, there has been a burgeoning of<br />
international attention; the industry’s focus now includes Israel.<br />
Today, the smart transportation community includes thousands of members<br />
who participate in monthly activities including workshops, competitions,<br />
hackathons, investor events, and delegations. We continuously welcome<br />
delegations from across the world that are joining us. We anticipate new<br />
collaborations to emerge during the <strong>Main</strong> <strong>Event</strong> and look forward to seeing<br />
you back in Israel soon.<br />
On a personal note, this is my first year to be at the front of the stage. I want<br />

As a founding and managing partner of EcoMotion, the Israel<br />
Innovation Institute has experienced the challenges and<br />
rewards of ecosystem development. At its inception 6 years<br />
ago, Israel was barely on the radar of the smart<br />
transportation community .<br />
As we witness today at the 5th Annual <strong>Main</strong> <strong>Event</strong>, EcoMotion has become a<br />

THE FUEL CHOICES AND SMART MOBILITY INITIATIVE<br />
Israel is home to an innovative ecosystem of smart mobility and<br />
the world is taking notice. Cutting edge technologies account for<br />
only part of that success. A growing number of multinationals<br />
have chosen to set up R&D centers here, and Israel represents one<br />
of the largest markets for start-up acquisitions and investments in<br />
these fields.<br />
The Israeli government launched the National Program for Smart Transportation<br />
taking these competencies into account, along with global trends in the automotive<br />
industry. This program aims at encouraging research, development, and<br />
entrepreneurship in the field of smart mobility in Israel. Its goals are to promote the<br />
integration of advanced technologies in the local market, as well as enhancing the<br />
Israeli technological industry and capabilities on a global scale.<br />
In addition to groundbreaking research, the country provides a supportive regulatory<br />
and financial ecosystem backed by a long-term government plan, and above all, an<br />
entrepreneurial spirit that can meet any challenge!<br />

New mobility has ushered in a technology revolution, making automotive one of the fastest<br />
