Empire, he wanted August, the month named after him,
to have31 days as well. Hence, the two extra days were
taken from February, which was then left with 28 days.

This exhibition presents a rich exploration of Emirati
identity as conveyed through modes of adornment.
Exploring ‘tangible,’ lasting forms of adornment,
including garments, burga, jewelry, weapons and
attributes, the exhibition also embraces invisible
aspects of adornment: the innate knowledge and
skills needed to create evanescent adornment
through the application of henna, kohl and
fragrance, as well as through grooming and hairstyles.
Emirati adornment, in all its complexity and beauty, is
revealed through personal examples with insights
offered by Emirati people.
The highly interactive art exhibition welcomes visitor
contribution of objects, memories and reflections
pertaining to Emirati adornment.

Al Ain Cultural Art Programme
Al Ain is one of the world’s oldest continually
inhabited cities, which fuses the spirit of the past with

Palm Weaving Workshop at Al
Jahili Fort
Al Jahili Fort is organising a Palm Weaving workshop,
one of the most prominent and well-known
techniques used in the making of many Emirati
handicrafts. Seeking to further expand the public’s
knowledge of the UAE’s rich heritage, the workshop

Islamic Manuscripts & Coins Show
The Islamic Manuscripts & Coins Show is being organised
in cooperation with the Emirates Heritage Club and
includes a number of unique Islamic manuscripts in
interpretation, Qur'an sciences, Hadith texts, terminology,
interpretation of hadiths, fundamentals of jurisprudence,
the four schools of thought, history and explorations, as
well as medicine, astronomy, mathematics, chemistry,
stone sciences and more.
There are 21 manuscripts on display, aged between 200-
400 years. Some of them were owned by scholars, who
left insightful comments in the margins. Some were hand
written by the authors themselves.
The Islamic coins include 40 types of gold and silver, aged
between 1000-1300 years; representing the Abbasside
era.
Moreover, the show includes 15 old photos depicting
Sheikh Zayed - may God rest his soul - when he would
meet with locals and overview in person, various projects,
while still finding time to receive heads of states.

Tom & Jerry- The Cheese Maze
Hanna-Barbera’s main classical characters of Tom
& Jerry’s series are back, but this time, they are
live on stage with Tom & Jerry and their usual
slapstick chasing.
Toddles, Spike, Butch and many more will drag
you in a dynamic adventure, in a show lasting 30
minutes about Tom falling in love with Toodle and
deciding not to chase Jerry anymore.
The Cheese Maze is an interactive maze where
kids have to carry a giant piece of cheese and
give it to Jerry who is waiting at the end of the

have to avoid the traps laid and Tom of course.

Abu Dhabi City Indoor Run Yas
Mall
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council City Runs returns indoors
at Yas Mall for the second summer run.
Run or Walk 2.5 km, 5 km or 10 km in air conditioned
comfort. A looped course on the ground floor of Yas
Mall features the starting and the finishing point is
located at the Pearl Court.
Register online before August 14 and sign in on for the
morning from 7:00 am. The 10 km run starts at 8:15 am
and the 2.5 km and 5 km run starts at 8:20 am.
Note: Cut off time is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
