The four ladies of The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s
Guild Dramatic Society are a force to be reckoned with. The sheer scale of
their ambition in mounting “Murder at Checkmate Manor” is only matched
by their overwhelming confidence in their abilities to master all fourteen
parts.
Even though Gordon, their stage manager, nobly steps into the breach at
the last minute their production is blighted by a series of disasters.
The play is set in the drawing room of Checkmate Manor. The family
gathers for the reading of the will of the late Sir Reginald Bishop. However
someone else has designs on the Checkmate millions and will stop at
nothing to get them. A string of grisly murders ensues where everyone
has a motive and everyone is a suspect in a classic whodunnit farce.
The crunch comes in the denouement when the murderer is about to be
revealed. Luckily Mrs Reece, doyenne of the group, can be relied upon to
save the day with a final twist to the plot. Sit back, sympathise and enjoy!
Why not enjoy a superb two course dinner ahead of visiting the theatre
to watch Congleton Players in action at Bojangles Brasserie in central
his own experimental treatments, Jekyll accidentally unleashes his ultimate inner
demon in the process. Meet the infamous Mr Hyde!

A party of assorted railway travellers find themselves stranded in the
waiting room of an isolated country station in the evening. The Station
Master tries to get them to leave the site as he is closing the station for
the night.
Given their reluctance to go, and after they’ve refused his order (citing
the lack of alternative accommodation for them within several miles), he
warns them of a threat, if they remain, from the supernatural danger of a
spectral old railway carriage train, the ghost of one that fatally wrecked in
the locality several years before, that sometimes haunts the particular line
they are now on at night, which brings death upon all those who set eyes
on it. Incredulous of his story they still refuse to leave, and he departs
leaving them facing a fateful night on the station …
Presented by Pinked Floyd
This seven-piece tribute band,
based in Oldham, has been thrilling
audiences all over the North West
with their engaging and energetic
performance celebrating the
magical music of Pink Floyd. They
have been especially praised for
the accuracy of their performance
based on the studio versions of
music spanning the entire output
of the Floyd from early days, with
firm favourites Dark Side, Wish
You Were Here, Animals and The Wall particularly featured. The music
is enhanced by a fabulous light-show including Floyd’s distinctive circular
screen. Led by front-man Russell’s “incredibly accurate” vocal, supported
by Andrea’s astonishing vocals especially on Great Gig, attention to detail
is the bye-word for Luke (keyboards and effects), drummer Lee, Jack on
bass, and Harry (guitar and sax), while Alan was described as “blowing the
crowd away with his jaw-dropping solo that the audience were still gasping
and chattering about as they left the theatre” (QuaysNews)
