Reyes Cares visited Laurie Children's Hospital to bring some sunshine to a few of the families there. Wednesday, June 7 th a group of corporate employees volunteered their time to share lunch and make crafts with the families, and had a great time doing so. As everyone begins to plan adventures remember to be safe and always be prepared. We all know warm weather brings the barbecues, bonfires, and beaches, but don’t forget about the bugs, burns, and beverages. When you are outdoors this summer remember to use caution when dealing with open fires, apply sunblock and bug spray generously, drink plenty of water, and if you are consuming alcohol make sure you have a ride home. Be safe and have fun!!!
Vol. 3 JULY 2017 Reyes Recap The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has declared July UV Safety Month. The goal is to spread the word about how important it is to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun's UV rays. UV radiation is the leading cause of skin cancer and can also causes wrinkles, eye problems, and a weakened immune system. Avoid or limit your sun exposure when the UV index is at its highest. UV rays are the strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen of 30 SPF or higher (blocks both UVA and UVB). Reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating. your skin by wearing lightweight protective clothing, preferably long sleeve shirts and pants. Protect your scalp and face with a broad-brimmed hat. UV rays not only damage your skin; they can cause vision problems, including cataracts and macular degeneration. To protect your eyes, wear a wide-brimmed hat to shade your face and eyes, as well as wrap-around sunglasses that block 100% of UV rays and absorb most HEV rays. You need to be proactive about sun protection every day, including when it's cloudy. UV rays can penetrate through clouds and haze. Sun damage can occur any time of year, not just in the summer. On Wednesday, June 14 th our corporate summer interns had the opportunity to see two of our Business Units in action. They were able to visit Great Lakes Coca-Cola in St. Charles, IL and Windy City Distributing in Aurora, IL. Manager Anthony Moultrie at the GLCC Distribution Center gave the group a full tour of the warehouses and showed them what a normal day at a Coca-Cola distribution center might look like. After the tour, lunch was held in the main conference room and interns had the opportunity to interact with the employees and ask them some questions. At Windy City Distributing the interns were given a presentation describing what it’s like to be in the distribution industry of craft-beer. After the presentation they did a tour of the facility and were shown how the operations of the facility are run. “It was great to be able to see how Reyes Holdings companies operate outside of the corporate office.
