make each pass about five feet from the previous one, so some 

overlapping occurs. Avoid applying this product o n flower, vegetable,

Ornamental Flower Beds: Evenly apply 1/2 lb. of this product for every 

500 sq. ft. (or 2 ounces for every 50 sq. ft. area). Repeat application as

Home Invading Insects - Barrier Treatment Around House 

Foundations: Apply a 2-foot band of this product next to the house 

foundation. Use 1/2 lb. for each 500 sq. ft. (2 ft. x 250 ft.) (or 2 ounces for 

each 50 sq. ft. (2 ft. x 25 ft.)). Repeat applications every 2 weeks only if 

there are signs of renewed insect activity.

Four Steps to Preparing a Lawn for New Seed 

1. Clear, Till & Level Ground 

Providing a clear area that has been removed of any debris, loosened and 

leveled out to provide an area suitable to cultivate a healthy lawn. 

2. Amend Soil 

Check soil pH to be certain that soil is ready for seed. Seeds germinate best 

in a neutral soil pH. Apply Landscapers Select Rapid Release Lime or Rapid 

Release Lime powered by AMP-XC to increase pH level in acid soil or sulfur 

to reduce pH level in alkaline soil. 

3. Plant New Grass Seed 

Determine which grasses grow best in your area. Talking with a local lawn 

care expert to help identify which grass species are common in the area. 

4. Fertilize & Water 

Apply Landscapers Select Starter Fertilizer to give the new grass seed the 

nutrients needed to grow. A good rule of thumb is to make sure the new 

grass has plenty of water to be damp but is not saturated.

Description 

For use on flower and vegetables gardens, shrubs, and trees as a general, 

all-purpose fertilizer. These products blend equal amounts of each major 

nutrients: Nitrogen(N), Phosphorous(P) & Potassium(K).

The N-P-K value represents the ratio of nutrients to filler in the product. 

The higher the ratio, the more nutrients and less filler. Filler is an 

important additive so that you do not over apply nutrients and harm 

your plant during application. 

How to Use 

Any given application depends on existing soil chemistry, plant type and 

intended use of the area. The best results are obtained when it is applied 

as label directs and watered into the area soon after application. For large, 

unobstructed areas, broadcast application with rotary or pendulum spreaders 

is recommended for uniform distribution. 

Gardens and Flower Beds: Evenly apply product, see lbs. per 100 square feet 

recommendation on back of bag. Work into the soil to a depth of 6 inches. 

Once plants are established apply additional fertilizer based on County 

Extension Service recommendations. Apply fertilizer evenly and do not apply 

fertilizer directly to plant foliage or stems. Water in after application. 

Shrubs and Trees: For shrubs, apply when plants are dormant in the late 

fall or in the early spring. Spread fertilizer evenly, see lbs. per 100 square 

feet recommendation on back of bag. The fertilizer should be kept 12 to 18 

inches away from the base of shrubs. Water in after application to remove any 

fertilizer that may be in contact with the foliage and to move fertilizer into 

the soil. For trees, apply when trees are dormant in the late fall or in the early 

spring. Apply evenly under the canopy of the tree where there are no ground 

cover plants or turf growing. An alternate method is to auger holes 6 to 8 

inches deep in a grid pattern as shown in the 

diagram. Keep holes at least 3 feet from the base 

of the tree. Place fertilizer in holes, evenly applying 

the appropriate amount of fertilizer (recommended 

on back of bag) under the canopy of the tree. 

Then finish filling the holes with dirt. Water 

fertilizer in after application.
