This is the day that immediately follows the last day of the holy month of 

Ramadan. Eid al-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal (the 10TH month 

of the Islamic Calendar). It is one of the greatest Islamic festivals and a 

day of happiness. Eid al-Fitr is the day of thanks giving to Allah for giving his servants 

the opportunity to fast and to worship him in the holy month. On this fruitful day, 

Muslims around the world leave their jobs, offer Eid prayers, visit one another, dress 

well and take part in festivities.Whether rich or poor, Islam encourages all Muslims to 

enjoy Eid. Therefore, it commands all the well-off people to pay Zakat (charity) of Fitr. 

This charity consists of three kilograms (3kg) of one’s daily food or its equivalent cash. 

The payment of this Zakat is obligatory upon every person who is an adult, of sane mind, 

free at the time of the sunset on the last day of Ramadan, and is not dependent on others 

for means of subsistence. If the person concerned is the head of the family, it is 

incumbent upon him to pay his own Zakat of Fitr, on behalf of those whom he supports 

and those who, at the time of the sunset preceding Eid day, are considered to be partners 

in his meals. Also, if a guest arrives before sunset on the last day of the holy month and 

shares his meal with his hosts, the head of the family is required to pay his zakat of Fitr as 

well.The purpose of this Zakat is to recognize the rights of the poor and needy only, but 

may be payable on property, which is expendable. This includes helping the deserving 

people and building hospitals, bridges, schools, and so forth. Nowadays, the Zakat of 

Fitr is paid without any planning, with the end result being that the deserving people do 

not derive any suitable benefit from it. Thus it would be better if the Zakat paid by all the 

people is collected in one place and spent after proper planning so that the condition of a 

good number of needy persons may improve. Since Eid al-Fitr is a day of Thanksgiving, 

we should be thankful to Allah for having witnessed the last day of Ramadan and pray 

that He accepts our worship. This day doesn’t call for extravagance and doing haram. 

Yes, it is a day of happiness but that doesn’t mean that we should let it lead us to doing 

haram. Instead, it calls for living the halal way and being happy with our families and 

friends. Our mode of dressing is expected to be modest too. 

Let us make it a day worth remembering by doing what is supposed to be done. At 

the end of the day, you get to benefit from the reward of Allah if you obey Him. Have a 

great Eid!

The NIA is verifying contents of a sting 

operation carried out by a TV?channel in which the 

separatists were seen talking about receiving money 

from Pakistan for funding violent activities 

including torching of schools and stone pelting. The 

NIA team had asked Nayeem Khan, Farooq Ahmed 

Dar alias 'Bitta Karate' and Gazi Javed Baba to 

appear before it for their explanation on an expose on 

a television channel where they had claimed 

receiving funds from Pakistan. 

However, Nayeem Khan denied the 

allegations of receiving funds from Pakistan, 

claiming the sting operation was “fake and 

doctored”. Addressing a press conference in 

Srinagar, he alleged that the media group had used 

his statements out of context to “defame the Kashmir 

struggle”. 

Investigators have also collected the copies 

of the FIRs of about 150 cases and analyzing these 

FIRs registered in the Valley in the recent past 

regarding damage caused to the schools and public 

property as part of the larger conspiracy to 

perpetuate violence and chaos in Kashmir.

of its kind in the State, given the technology 

used in the project. 

This car parking facility would be first

drivers will have to just place their vehicles 

over the automated pellet and it would be 

automatically placed in the available vacant 

slot. The vehicle would similarly be retrieved 

back in the same manner on the automated 

pellet. The whole process would take around 

two minutes and would be undertaken with the 

help of an imported Logic Control Unit. 

Spread over an area of 1545 square meters in 

the city's most busy commercial place, the parking 

facility has been developed at a cost of Rs. 27.15 

crore and would be providing multi level parking to 

288 vehicles. The parking facility comprises four 

bays with each having a parking space for 72 

vehicles, besides a 

commercial 

complex, office and 

public convenience.

completed in two years.The entry point for the 

parking facility has been kept from Maulana Azad 

road and vehicles would exit from exchange road. 

“This will provide easy and safe parking for vehicle 

owners who will have to just place their vehicle over 

the automated pellet and vehicle will be 

automatically placed in the available vacant parking 

slot. Similarly the vehicles will be retrieved back 

from the slot and placed at the automated pellet with 

whole process taking less than 2 to 2.5 minutes.The 

process will be undertaken with the help of imported 

HID (Human Interface Device) called PLC 

(Programmed Logic Control Unit) which will be 

operated by trained engineers and technicians.

that now they are not afraid of car theft or any kind of 

damage to their vehicle. Commuters are also hailing
