pressure on the practitioners h<strong>and</strong>s. Hern<strong>and</strong>ez Tapanes et al (2010) were able to prove, by<br />
diagnostic ultrasound, penetration of the oscillations to an 8cm depth without any undue pressure<br />
be<strong>in</strong>g applied. Observed physiological effects of the therapy <strong>in</strong>clude, significant pa<strong>in</strong> reduction,<br />
oedema resorption, fibros<strong>is</strong> reduction, limited production of <strong>in</strong>flammatory mediators, especially<br />
dur<strong>in</strong>g the treatment for chronic pa<strong>in</strong>, a strengthen<strong>in</strong>g of the cutaneous t<strong>is</strong>sues <strong>and</strong> stimulation of the<br />
wound heal<strong>in</strong>g process. It greatly benefits acute <strong>in</strong>jury treatment <strong>and</strong> day one post surgical<br />
treatment <strong>and</strong> can be used over implanted p<strong>in</strong>s <strong>and</strong> plates. Applied via v<strong>in</strong>yl gloves or applicators<br />
from Practitioner to Patient, h<strong>and</strong>held applicators also enable self-management, with patient’s<br />
cont<strong>in</strong>uous feedback of now feel<strong>in</strong>g '<strong>in</strong> control' of chronic conditions such as Lymphoedema <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>Lipoedema</strong>. Partners/supportive others can also be <strong>in</strong>structed <strong>in</strong> its application, br<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g a viable<br />
treatment option <strong>in</strong>to the home, improv<strong>in</strong>g patient quality of life. Complex cases can be treated<br />
effectively, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g lymphoedema of the head <strong>and</strong> neck, breast fibros<strong>is</strong> <strong>and</strong> genital oedema.<br />
Personal units are lightweight, battery operated <strong>and</strong> travel friendly. In addition to eight PubMed<br />
studies, <strong>DEEP</strong> <strong>OSCILLATION</strong>® has also been publ<strong>is</strong>hed <strong>in</strong> the Journal of Lymphoedema, The<br />
