Sketching the
Macaroon.
Christian Troels
in his workshop
testing Macaroon
prototypes.
Why did you become a
designer?
everywhere, but especially
through the people I meet in
design collaborations. The
Kaas which already consisted
of ceramic products. The great
thing with ceramic is that you
Ever since I was a kid I wanted
companies I work with always
can experiment with colors and
to create something with my
have specifications of what
shades in a different way than
bare hands. Whether it be
they want to see and I love to
for example wood. The shape
drawing, playing with LEGO or
comply with these demands
of the Macaroon is obviously
separating things from each
and help them design products
inspired by the French delicacy,
other and assembling them
that fit into their universe. The
aspects about different materials
and textures are the things I love
as a designer. If I don’t create
something, I become restless.”
thing new. Becoming a designer
was therefore natural to me
because it was based on my
thirst for creation. My curiosity
for learning new aspects
about different materials and
textures are the things I love
as a designer. If I don’t create
something, I become restless.
where creativity kicks in. At
the same time this is also the
difficult part of the process, because
when a product is clearly
defined, I have to begin cutting
down some of my ideas and
focus in a specific direction.
What was your inspiration
behind the Macaroon?
same time being appealing with
a twist of humor.
How does the merging of
materials come into play in the
design?
Together, the different materials
create a contrast which makes
the lamp stand out as edgy
Where do you find inspiration?
but at the same time elegant.
The Macaroon came from a
