Lincoln-Way Marching Band to host Community Night with Elvis

On Saturday, Aug. 26, at
6 p.m., Lincoln-Way Marching
Band will host Community
Night with Elvis at
Lincoln-Way West.
In addition to the debut of
the band’s competitive show,
“Bend, Twist and Turn,”
Nick Miller, an award winning
Elvis impersonator
from Joliet, will perform his,
“Keeping the King Alive,”
set. Miller will be on hand
to pose for photos with the
crowd.
There will be raffles and
a silent auction at the event,
which will include items
such as a one-night deluxe
stay for two at The Peabody
in Memphis, Tennessee. The
Peabody is listed on the National
Register of Historic
places because of its charm,
elegance, gracious hospitality
and world-famous five
resident ducks, who march
daily to and from the lobby
fountain. Also available for
auction will be a signed
photo of Chicago White
Sox shortstop, Tim Anderson,
and a Chicago Bears
autographed photo.
“This is our second annual
Community Night for
the LWMB,” Kim Hansen,
LWMB sponsor, said. ”This
is a great event for all ages.
We are very excited to debut
the new competitive show
for the community, who
have been extremely supportive
of these hard-working
students.”
Admission is free for all
who wish to attend. Meals
will be offered for $5 each
and include a choice of a
slice of Giordano’s pizza
with a drink or Culver’s
Chicken Fingers with a
drink.
“We are looking forward
to this opportunity for the
LWMB students to perform
for our wonderful administration,
music booster
organizations, community
and families,” Chris Mroczek,
director of LWMB,
said. “The students have
been making tremendous
progress this summer, and
we hope to have a large
audience present for our
first community performance
of our 2017 show,
‘Bend, Twist, & Turn.’
Come and join us for what
will surely be a wonderful
evening.”
All proceeds from Community
Night will fund
supplies, equipment,
meals, travel, and repairs
for equipment and instruments.
