A venturesome woman

Jaclyn Brotherson graduated with
a major in Journalism and Mass
Communication from St.
Bonaventure Uvniversity, and two
years ago she hopped in her car
and drove to NYC. Originally from
Boulder, Colorado, she was
looking to make a career for
herself in the advertising industry,
and what better place to start than
in NYC. Today, after 7 months at
Path Interactive, Jaclyn shares her
personal passions and interests,
while admitting – with a shy smile
on her face – that being in the
“spot light” it’s definitely not one
of her favorite things.
Passions and pastimes
One of Jaclyn’s biggest passions is
traveling the world, “If I could
have one superpower it would be
invisibility. I would use it to travel
for free” Jac enthuses. She gushes,
without hesitation, that her trip to
Marrakech, Morocco was the most
interesting place she’s ever been
to, “The culture was like nothing I
ever experienced before, and the
architecture was remarkable too.
The whole experience was eye
opening. I can't wait to go back”.

Besides traveling, Jac uses
cooking as a way to relax, enjoys
running to the Cloisters for the
medieval gardens, and creates
short films and compilations of
just about anything that comes to
her mind (trips, promoting a
friend's band or company,
highlight reels, etc.). “I love
shooting Polaroids and filming in
general because film captures
each moment in the truest form.”

Jac admits that she is extremely
intrigued by Girl Gangs (and yes, that
refers to the obvious – gangs with girl
members only). “I think Girl Gangs are bad
ass. For instance, Ovarian Psychos is a
crew of women in LA who work to raise
awareness for feminist ideals in the urban
community. Women everywhere, in all
situations, should feel powerful and
important. I'm not advocating gang
violence or anything, but I'm definitely
advocating the right for women to
embrace strength and build communities
that steer away from the "lady-like"
standards drilled into our minds
throughout childhood.”
Music, movies & books
Jac’s taste in music is diverse; a few of
her go-to bands and artists are: “King
Krule, Courtney Barnett, The Fugees,
Michael Kiwanuka, SZA, Jay Z’s 4:44
albun, Alt-J, Frank Ocean, Van
Morrison’s Astral Weeks album, Otis
Redding, Leon Bridges, Kanye West, The
Local Natives, Good Old War, Fleet
Foxes, Alicia Keys...and the list goes on.”
As for films, her favorite comedy movies
are Airplane, Rat Race, Super Troopers,
and Tyler Perry’s Madea. And her
favorite TV show when growing up was
Rocco’s Modern Life. Now, she enjoys
watching Broad City, Bob’s Burgers, Eric
Andre Show, Black Mirror, A
Handmaid’s Tale, and Alaska State
Troopers.
Jac also appreciates literature – some of
her favorite books are: “On the Road” by
Jack Karouac, “Ham On Rye” and

interests me more than

“The Post Office,” by Charles Bukowski,
“The Best American Short Stories” by
T.C. Boyle, or any of Ken Kesey’s short
stories.

Kayne West because “Kanye loves Kanye.”
• If she could bring only 3 items wither her to a deserted island, she’d take:
“a Survival Guide entitled something like Staying Alive on An Island with Nothing For
Dummies, paint (seems necessary), and a radio.”
• Her first online screenname was:
Jb_On_Da_RoCks, after Jim Beam on the rocks which is her Grandmother’s go-to drink.
“My grandmother thought this screen name made sense for me, since my initials are JB
even though I was probably 11 years old at the time.”
• She would also max out a credit card at:
a Gucci store.

Lastly, if you’re still wondering what other peculiar characteristics identify Jac, you
should know that if she had the ability of time traveling, she would travel to the future,
“I would rather travel to the future because I’ve already experienced the past; what “will
be” inter-ests me more than “what could’ve been”. Also, her biggest pet peeve with
modern tech-nology is Long, senseless Facebook statuses, the oldest thing in her
closet is a tapestry that she has since college, her favorite Cereal is the Fruity
Pebbles and if there was a movie based on her life, Cara Delevingne (actress), would
be the perfect person to play her, “wishful thinking” she says.
