The terror of the fox’s
Angus Roberts
April 27 2005
Hi diary I’m Mitchel Survival is key in
the country, staying out in the open
at night is death for us with the wild
cats but especially the fox no one I
know has come back after a fox has
grabbed it. I learned that today.
What happened is my cousin James,
his friend Cameron got taken last
night straight from his nest. Our
species is already low enough I hope
now they no were here they don’t
come back
May 5 2005
Our population has dropped massively with at least two maybe
more of our flock disappearing overnight. The community has
decided to move to up the trees maybe that will make a
difference for us to survive.
May 11 2005
The plan work for the first 3 nights then the foxes found we had
gone up and can climb trees like a monkey. We are starting to
move near the farm down next to the river for a safer place for
us to survive hopefully. Mum is worried and I think dad is he just
doesn’t want to show it.
May 24 2005
The foxes corned 20 others into the
river and bang and a herd all off the
foxes running away and they survived.
In the morning, me and Sam one of my
friends saw a were climbing trees when
we looked down on one we saw an
orange fuzz stationary on the on the
ground and went to check it out when
we saw a lifeless fox laying there with a
extremely deep whole in its belly with
dried up blood strait away we ran and
called the flock, we all wondered how it
got there.

The foxes have not been back since that fox had
died I suppose that they are scared or
something. a few days ago we through the foxes
body in the river because it was starting to
make a revolting smell wait a minute got to go
hearing screaming out side hopefully everything
is okay.
It was a fox that disrupted the peace that day and
took Mitchel’s mother and the rest of the town were
starting to charge of the foxes because they had
numbers to their advantage, because Mitchel was
entering in his journal when he ran out he saw
furious foxes running behind the tribe through area
around and he got time to warn them before the
foxes planned attack. The tribe vanished into the
Forrest and they should be as hard to find as a
needle in a hay stack. But as easy to smell as a
Sunday roast for a fox.

Sorry I lost my diary there for a while after mum got taken I couldn’t find it, that was
because this were back at the river camp site to get supplies and start moving as and I
found my diary where I left it. not much has happened lately weave been currently
moving but every couple of days we keep on finding dead foxes around like the one
we saw that night when there was a big bang. If we are not dying, then its fine I guess.
Yesterday around lunch my teachers brother Brian was collecting some water for us
when on the way, he saw a fox in a metal cage but it was still alive it was just stuck and
ran back looking terrified but the day before that when Sam was doing cross country
he said he saw a human around were Brian saw the cage with the fox I wonder if the
humans have any thing to do with all the dead foxes.
October 1 20005
Big attacks last night with Sam
gone and five others I don’t
know how I will cope,
apparently he was going for a
walk and he didn’t come back I
still can’t get why he went out
there it seems suicidal. We keep
on seeing more humans around
carrying a long metal pipe about
a metre with a bulky bit on the
end on it and a lot more its
looks like there weapon.
After a few days the humans came in
the Forrest land and caught every fox
in the bush and took them to a place
far far away they the malleefowls
hope but a few they killed with their
weapons it has to do with the farmer
on the other side of the river he
seemed to not like them when they
stole his chickens and baby life stock.
mitchel and his dad are living a good
life in the malleefowl centre of
Ongerup and are getting taken care of.
