Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I know what size door I need for my space?
A: Measuring for the correct size shower/tub door is extremely important for a proper installation.
Measuring must be done after the tile or finished wall material has been installed. Check
to ensure that your walls are plumb and that your shower base/tub or flat surface shower floor
is level. Depending upon the model being installed some of the models in our collection can
accommodate “Out of Plumb” openings of up to ¼” per side.
Q: Where can I purchase the plumbing fixtures or tile shown in the pictures of your doors?
A: The plumbing fixtures and tile shown in the pictures are not a specific manufacturer’s product
and are used for demonstrative purposes. At this time, Aston does not manufacture plumbing
fixtures or tile products.
Q: What should I use to clean my Aston shower door?
A: We recommend that you clean the glass daily by removing water with a rubber or silicone
squeegee after each use to prevent water spots. The glass doors and panels can be cleaned
using any commercially available glass cleaner.
Q: What does frameless and semi-frameless mean?
A: Frameless refers to any shower enclosure that doesn’t have metal adhered to the edge of
the glass. Frameless does not mean no metal. Frameless units can be virtually metal-free, except
for a top rail or glass clamps on any stationary panels, hinges and handle. Semi-frameless
shower enclosures typically use a header atop the unit and any stationary glass is framed by
use of a wall jamb or U channel. The door itself, however, does not have framing around it.
Q: Are Aston’s glass products third party tested for safety?
A: All of Aston’s shower doors are made of frameless, ANSI Z97.1 certified tempered safety
glass panels.
Q: What size base do I need for my shower enclosure?
A: Several of our sliding models include an acrylic base as an option. However, if a base is
being purchased or custom built to accommodate an enclosure, it is recommended that the
enclosure be onsite to ensure correct dimensions are taken. Should you or your customer need
further information or detail, please feel free to call in directly and speak with one of our technicians
at 877-424-9699 option 3 from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm CST or if you get the operator you
may request to speak directly with Technical Support.
Q: Are your doors reversible?
A: Several Aston doors are reversible for left or right installation. However, some collections
have dedicated left or right hand openings.
Q: Can I purchase just the hardware for this door?
A: At this time, we do not sell hardware of our models separately.
Q: Can I purchase just a stationary panel from “model x”?
A: At this time, we do not sell individual glass panels separately.
