Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between a pivot and a hinged door?
A: A hinged door is attached directly to the wall or stationary glass and opens like an interior door
in your house. Hinges attached directly to walls require studs behind the finished walls. A pivot
door has a pivot assembly that is attached to a wall profile system that is attached to your finished
wall. The pivot assembly attaches to the glass at the top and bottom much like a refrigerator door.
It does not require studs behind the finished walls for installation.
Q: Do any of your models have a protective glass coating?
A: At this time, we do not offer a protective glass coating.
Q: How quickly will I receive my Aston product?
A: We ship within 24-48 hours from the time an order is placed. All items ship from our warehouse
in Texas. Transit times vary depending on where the item is shipping to.
Q: Will the base from “brand X” work with your enclosure?
A: We cannot guarantee that another manufacturer’s base will work with our enclosures. Our glass
and bases are specifically designed to fit together.
Q: Where and how do I order replacement parts?
A: Please contact our Technical Support Department at: 1.877.424.9699 or email us at: support@
Q: What if I have questions about installing my Aston door?
A: Please contact our Technical Support Department Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:30pm CST at
1.877.424.9699 or email us at support@astonglobalinc.com
Q: Can the width of your doors be adjusted?
A: Several of our models feature variable widths. The bar on our sliding models (without base) can
be cut down on the fixed glass end of the unit. The maximum that the bar can be cut down is 4”.
Note: Cutting down the bar will increase the overlap of the glass and decrease the size of the entry.
Depending upon the collection, some of our hinged models have ½” to 1” width adjustability.
Q: Is Oil Rubbed Bronze a finish option?
A: Yes. Oil Rubbed Bronze is available as a finish for several collections*.
*ORB is currently not available for the 72” Langham and Moselle models, Orbitus Collection, nor the ZenArch Collection.
Q: Why did my glass door spontaneously explode?
A: Damage to the edge or other stresses can weaken the glass and result in delayed breakage, or
what appears to be spontaneous breakage. This is rare, but can be unsettling when it does occur.
Most often, we have seen this occur in sliding enclosures or doors during installation, when trying
to adjust the glass on the top rail or when moving the glass panels during the installation process.
A glass edge will nick an object or the wall, become compromised and either shatter at impact
or at some future date. If at any time you are having difficulty opening or closing the door, or the
door is not clearing the adjacent panel or wall, please call our technical support department for
assistance. Our Technical Support Department can be reached at 1.877.424.9699, via email at
