Continuation...
questions appear speculative in nature. For
example, WEF conducts executive surveys
to ask participants to indicate “public trust in
politicians” on a 1-7 scale. In another case,
WB DB Ranking has a parameter for “time it
takes to start a business in a country”. Such
inputs, even if published officially in a
country, would be a range and not a fixed
number, and averaging the range to a
number would lead to loss of information.
Comparative
Alignment of
Index Values
As the indexes essentially attempt to
measure the same features of a country’s
business and economic environment, it is
expected that for a country the index values
should correlate well with each other.
Figures 1 and 2 depict the trend of IMD WCC
Index and WEF GCI for three developed
Asian countries – Japan, South Korea and
Singapore and two developing A countries –
China (mainland) and India. WEF GCI data
is available only from 2006 onwards. WB DB
is not charted, as the data is available for a
few years only.
